我认为智慧胜过武力，然而那位穷人的智慧却被轻视，他所说的话也无人理会。

我就说，智慧胜过勇力；然而那贫穷人的智慧被人藐视，他的话也无人听从。

我就说，智慧胜过勇力；然而那贫穷人的智慧被人藐视，他的话也无人听从。

我就說，智慧勝過勇力；然而那貧窮人的智慧被人藐視，他的話也無人聽從。

我則曰、智愈於力、然貧者之智、為人蔑視、言不見聽、

我竊思之、智愈於力、貧者之智、為人藐忽、不從其言。

我自言曰、智慧雖愈於勇力、貧者之智慧仍被人藐忽、不聽其言、

So I said,“ Wisdom is better than strength.” But the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are no longer heeded.

So I said,“ It’s better to be wise than to be powerful.” But people look down on the poor man’s wisdom. No one pays any attention to what he says.

But I say that wisdom is better than might, though the poor man’s wisdom is despised and his words are not heard.

So even though wisdom is better than strength, those who are wise will be despised if they are poor. What they say will not be appreciated for long.

And I said,“ Wisdom is better than strength, but the wisdom of the poor man is despised, and his words are not heeded.”

So I said,“ Wisdom is better than strength.” But the wisdom of the poor man is despised, and his words are ignored.

Then I said:“ Wisdom is better than strength. Nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, And his words are not heard.

Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.

And I said,“ Wisdom is better than strength, but the wisdom of the poor man is despised, and his words are not heeded.”

Then said I, Wisdom[ is] better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom[ is] despised, and his words are not heard.

So I concluded that wisdom is better than might, but a poor man’s wisdom is despised; no one ever listens to his advice.

Then I said,“ Wisdom is better than strength.” Nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.

智慧使一个智者比城里十个官长更有能力。

智者充满能力，哲士力上加力。

智者攀上勇士的城池，摧毁他们倚仗的坚垒。

到了安息日，祂开始在会堂里教导人，众人听了都很惊奇，说：“这个人从哪里学来这些本领？祂怎么会有这种智慧？祂怎么能行这样的神迹？这不是那个木匠吗？祂不是玛丽亚的儿子吗？祂不是雅各、约西、犹大、西门的大哥吗？祂的妹妹们不也住在我们这里吗？”他们就对祂很反感。

智慧胜过兵器，但一个罪人却能破坏许多善事。

钱财是富人的坚垒，贫乏带给穷人毁灭。

法利赛人说：“难道你们也被祂迷惑了吗？哪有官长和法利赛人信祂呢？这群不明白律法的民众该受咒诅！”

弟兄姊妹，想想你们蒙召时的情形。按人的标准来衡量，你们当中称得上有智慧的不多，有能力的不多，出身名门望族的也不多。但上帝拣选了世人看为愚昧的，要使智者羞愧；上帝拣选了世上软弱的，要使强者蒙羞；上帝拣选了世上卑贱的、被藐视的和无足轻重的，要使世人看为举足轻重的变得无足轻重。这样，谁都不能在上帝面前自夸了。

法利赛人又把那个从前失明的人叫来，对他说：“你应该把荣耀归给上帝！我们知道那个人是罪人。”他说：“祂是不是罪人，我不知道；我只知道从前我是瞎眼的，现在能看见了。”他们就问他：“祂向你做了些什么？祂是怎样医好你眼睛的？”他回答说：“我已经告诉过你们了，你们不听，现在又问，难道你们也想做祂的门徒吗？”他们就骂他：“你才是祂的门徒！我们是摩西的门徒。我们知道上帝曾对摩西讲话，至于这个人，我们不知道祂是从哪里来的。”那人说：“祂开了我的眼睛，你们竟不知道祂从哪里来，真是奇怪。我们知道上帝不听罪人的祷告，只听那些敬拜祂、遵行祂旨意者的祷告。从创世以来，从未听过有人能把天生失明的人医好。如果这个人不是从上帝那里来的，就什么也不能做。”法利赛人斥责他：“你这生来就深陷罪中的家伙，居然敢教导我们！”于是把他赶了出去。

比方说，一个手戴金饰、衣着华丽的人来参加你们的聚会，一个衣衫褴褛的人也来参加，你们就看重那衣着华丽的，对他说：“请上座。”却对那穷人说：“你站在那边。”或“坐在我的脚凳边。”你们这样做难道不是偏心待人，心怀恶意地判断人吗？我亲爱的弟兄姊妹，请听我说，上帝不是拣选了穷人，使他们在信心上富足，并承受祂应许赐给那些爱祂之人的国度吗？你们反倒侮辱穷人。其实欺压你们、抓你们上法庭的不是那些富人吗？
