All this I saw, as I applied my mind to everything done under the sun. There is a time when a man lords it over others to his own hurt.

I understood all these things. I used my mind to study everything that’s done on earth. A man sometimes makes life hard for others. But he ends up hurting himself.

All this I observed while applying my heart to all that is done under the sun, when man had power over man to his hurt.

I have thought deeply about all that goes on here under the sun, where people have the power to hurt each other.

有人告诉埃及王说：“百姓逃跑。”法老和他的臣仆就向百姓变心，说：“我们容以色列人去，不再服侍我们，这做的是什么事呢？”法老就预备他的车辆，带领军兵同去，并带着六百辆特选的车和埃及所有的车，每辆都有车兵长。耶和华使埃及王法老的心刚硬，他就追赶以色列人，因为以色列人是昂然无惧地出埃及。埃及人追赶他们，法老一切的马匹、车辆、马兵，与军兵就在海边上，靠近比哈希录，对着巴力洗分，在他们安营的地方追上了。

我见日光之下所做的一切事，都是虚空，都是捕风。

但希实本王西宏不容我们从他那里经过；因为耶和华你的神使他心中刚硬，性情顽梗，为要将他交在你手中，像今日一样。

你打败了以东人就心高气傲，你以此为荣耀，在家里安居就罢了，为何要惹祸，使自己和犹大国一同败亡呢？”亚玛谢却不肯听这话。于是以色列王约阿施上来，在犹大的伯示麦与犹大王亚玛谢相见于战场。犹大人败在以色列人面前，各自逃回家里去了。

在西底家眼前杀了他的众子，并且剜了西底家的眼睛，用铜链锁着他，带到巴比伦去。

我见神叫世人劳苦，使他们在其中受经练。

我转念，一心要知道，要考察，要寻求智慧和万事的理由；又要知道邪恶为愚昧，愚昧为狂妄。
