我看见了这一切，又专心查究在日光之下所发生的一切事。有这样的一个时候：有人管辖别人，叫他受害。

此皆我所見者、專心詳察日下所作諸事、見操權者、有時使人受害、

我詳觀天下事、見有陷害同儔者、

凡此我嘗見之、我專心詳觀日下所作之事、有時人轄人、致人受害、有時人轄人致人受害或作有時人轄人致自受害

All this I saw, as I applied my mind to everything done under the sun. There is a time when a man lords it over others to his own hurt.

I understood all these things. I used my mind to study everything that’s done on earth. A man sometimes makes life hard for others. But he ends up hurting himself.

All this I observed while applying my heart to all that is done under the sun, when man had power over man to his hurt.

I have thought deeply about all that goes on here under the sun, where people have the power to hurt each other.

All this I have seen, applying my mind to all the work that is done under the sun, at a time when one person has authority over another to his harm.

All this I have seen, and have applied my mind to every deed that has been done under the sun at a time when one person has exercised authority over another person to his detriment.

如果你在一省之中，看到穷人遭受欺压，公正和公义被夺去，也不必因此惊讶，因为高位者之上有较高的照应，在他们之上还有更高的。

我看见日光之下有一令人痛心的憾事，就是财主积聚财富，反受其害。

我又看到日光之下有一件虚空的事。有人孤单无依，没有儿子，没有兄弟，仍劳碌不休，眼目也不以自己的财富为足。他问：“我劳劳碌碌，刻薄自己不去享受，是为谁呢？”这也是虚空，是劳苦的担子。

有人告诉埃及王说：“以色列人逃走了。”法老和他的臣仆对以色列人的心就改变了，他们说：“我们让以色列人离开，不再服事我们，我们作了什么事呢？”法老就预备他的马车，带着他的人民一同去，并且带着六百辆特选的马车和埃及所有的马车，每辆马车上都有马车长。耶和华使埃及王法老的心刚硬，法老就追赶以色列人；因为以色列人是靠着耶和华高举的手出来的。埃及人追赶他们，法老所有的马匹、战车和他的马兵与军队，就在海边，靠近比．哈希录，对着巴力．洗分他们安营的地方追上了他们。

我看过日光之下所发生的一切事，不料，一切都是虚空，都是捕风。

但是希实本王西宏不肯让我们从他那里经过，因为耶和华我们的神使他的心意顽固，使他的心刚硬，为要把他交在你的手里，像今日一样。

不错，你打败了以东人，你的心就高傲。你尽管自己夸耀，安坐家中就是了。为什么要惹祸，使你覆亡，也使犹大跟你一起覆亡呢？”但是亚玛谢不听他的话。于是以色列王约阿施上来，和犹大王亚玛谢在属犹大的伯．示麦相见。犹大人被以色列人击败，各人逃回自己的家去了。

海水一回流，就淹没了马车、马兵和那些跟着以色列人下海去的法老的全军，连一个也没有余下。

他们又在西底家眼前杀了他的众子，并且把西底家的眼睛弄瞎，然后用铜链锁住他，把他带到巴比伦去。

我看神给予世人的担子，是要他们为此烦恼。

我转念，一心去了解、考察并寻觅智慧和事理，又要知道愚蒙是邪恶的，狂妄是愚昧的。
