As no one has power over the wind to contain it, so no one has power over the time of their death. As no one is discharged in time of war, so wickedness will not release those who practice it.

No one can stop the wind from blowing. And no one has the power to decide when they will die. No one is let out of the army in times of war. And evil won’t let go of those who practice it.

No man has power to retain the spirit, or power over the day of death. There is no discharge from war, nor will wickedness deliver those who are given to it.

None of us can hold back our spirit from departing. None of us has the power to prevent the day of our death. There is no escaping that obligation, that dark battle. And in the face of death, wickedness will certainly not rescue the wicked.

No one has authority over the wind to restrain it, and there is no authority over the day of death; no one is discharged during battle, and wickedness will not allow those who practice it to escape.

Inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once, and after this, judgment,

The wicked is brought down in his calamity, but in death, the righteous has a refuge.

What man is he who shall live and not see death, who shall deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah.

For he was crucified through weakness, yet he lives through the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we will live with him through the power of God toward you.

The wicked shall be turned back to Sheol, even all the nations that forget God.

Those who trust in their wealth, and boast in the multitude of their riches—none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give God a ransom for him.For the redemption of their life is costly, no payment is ever enough,that he should live on forever, that he should not see corruption.

Surely you set them in slippery places. You throw them down to destruction.How they are suddenly destroyed! They are completely swept away with terrors.As a dream when one wakes up, so, Lord, when you awake, you will despise their fantasies.For my soul was grieved. I was embittered in my heart.I was so senseless and ignorant. I was a brute beast before you.Nevertheless, I am continually with you. You have held my right hand.You will guide me with your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.Whom do I have in heaven? There is no one on earth whom I desire besides you.My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.For, behold, those who are far from you shall perish. You have destroyed all those who are unfaithful to you.But it is good for me to come close to God. I have made the Lord Yahweh my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.

It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power.

Your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol shall not stand. When the overflowing scourge passes through, then you will be trampled down by it.

If he set his heart on himself, if he gathered to himself his spirit and his breath,

For we must die, and are like water spilled on the ground, which can’t be gathered up again; neither does God take away life, but devises means, that he who is banished not be an outcast from him.

God will likewise destroy you forever. He will take you up, and pluck you out of your tent, and root you out of the land of the living. Selah.The righteous also will see it, and fear, and laugh at him, saying,“ Behold, this is the man who didn’t make God his strength, but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.”

They went after them to the Jordan; and behold, all the path was full of garments and equipment which the Syrians had cast away in their haste. The messengers returned, and told the king.

Who knows the spirit of man, whether it goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, whether it goes downward to the earth?”

When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses, chariots, and a people more numerous than you, you shall not be afraid of them; for Yahweh your God is with you, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.It shall be, when you draw near to the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak to the people,and shall tell them,“ Hear, Israel, you draw near today to battle against your enemies. Don’t let your heart faint! Don’t be afraid, nor tremble, neither be scared of them;for Yahweh your God is he who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.”The officers shall speak to the people, saying,“ What man is there who has built a new house, and has not dedicated it? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man dedicate it.What man is there who has planted a vineyard, and has not used its fruit? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man use its fruit.What man is there who has pledged to be married to a wife, and has not taken her? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her.”The officers shall speak further to the people, and they shall say,“ What man is there who is fearful and faint- hearted?
