No one can stop the wind from blowing. And no one has the power to decide when they will die. No one is let out of the army in times of war. And evil won’t let go of those who practice it.

No man has power to retain the spirit, or power over the day of death. There is no discharge from war, nor will wickedness deliver those who are given to it.

None of us can hold back our spirit from departing. None of us has the power to prevent the day of our death. There is no escaping that obligation, that dark battle. And in the face of death, wickedness will certainly not rescue the wicked.

爾實置之於險地、委之於沉淪兮、猝然荒寂、因威烈而滅沒兮、主歟、爾興起時、蔑視其形相、如人醒時之視夢幻兮、我靈不安、我心被刺兮、我愚蠢無知、在爾前同於獸兮、然我恆與爾偕、爾執我右手兮、爾必以訓迪我、後則以榮接我兮、爾外、在天誰為我有、在地我無所慕兮、我身心俱憊、惟上帝為我心力、為我永業兮、遠爾者必死亡、狥欲逆爾者、爾殄滅之兮、惟我近上帝而獲益、以主耶和華為避所、俾我述其作為兮、

播於辱而起於榮、播於弱而起於強、

爾與死亡所結之約必廢、爾與陰府所訂之盟、必不堅立、凶災流行之時、爾被蹂躪、

彼若定志為己、使神與氣歸之、

吾儕必死、如水傾地、不能復收、上帝不奪人命、乃設法俾亡者得免驅逐、
