As no one has power over the wind to contain it, so no one has power over the time of their death. As no one is discharged in time of war, so wickedness will not release those who practice it.

No one can stop the wind from blowing. And no one has the power to decide when they will die. No one is let out of the army in times of war. And evil won’t let go of those who practice it.

No man has power to retain the spirit, or power over the day of death. There is no discharge from war, nor will wickedness deliver those who are given to it.

None of us can hold back our spirit from departing. None of us has the power to prevent the day of our death. There is no escaping that obligation, that dark battle. And in the face of death, wickedness will certainly not rescue the wicked.

No one has authority over the wind to restrain it, and there is no authority over the day of death; no one is discharged during battle, and wickedness will not allow those who practice it to escape.

人的日子既然限定，他的月數在你那裏，你也派定他的界限，使他不能越過，

你們曾說：我們與死亡立約，與陰間結盟；敵軍如水漲漫經過的時候，必不臨到我們；因我們以謊言為避所，在虛假以下藏身。

按着定命，人人都有一死，死後且有審判。

惡人在所行的惡上必被推倒；義人臨死，有所投靠。

誰能常活免死、救他的靈魂脫離陰間的權柄呢？（細拉）

他因軟弱被釘在十字架上，卻因神的大能仍然活着。我們也是這樣同他軟弱，但因神向你們所顯的大能，也必與他同活。

惡人，就是忘記神的外邦人，都必歸到陰間。

那些倚仗財貨自誇錢財多的人，一個也無法贖自己的弟兄，也不能替他將贖價給神，叫他長遠活着，不見朽壞；因為贖他生命的價值極貴，只可永遠罷休。

你實在把他們安在滑地，使他們掉在沉淪之中。他們轉眼之間成了何等的荒涼！他們被驚恐滅盡了。人睡醒了，怎樣看夢；主啊，你醒了也必照樣輕看他們的影像。因而，我心裏發酸，肺腑被刺。我這樣愚昧無知，在你面前如畜類一般。然而，我常與你同在；你攙着我的右手。你要以你的訓言引導我，以後必接我到榮耀裏。除你以外，在天上我有誰呢？除你以外，在地上我也沒有所愛慕的。我的肉體和我的心腸衰殘；但神是我心裏的力量，又是我的福分，直到永遠。遠離你的，必要死亡；凡離棄你行邪淫的，你都滅絕了。但我親近神是與我有益；我以主耶和華為我的避難所，好叫我述說你一切的作為。

所種的是羞辱的，復活的是榮耀的；所種的是軟弱的，復活的是強壯的；

你們與死亡所立的約必然廢掉，與陰間所結的盟必立不住。敵軍如水漲漫經過的時候，你們必被他踐踏；

他若專心為己，將靈和氣收歸自己，

我們都是必死的，如同水潑在地上，不能收回。神並不奪取人的性命，乃設法使逃亡的人不致成為趕出、回不來的。

神也要毀滅你，直到永遠；他要把你拿去，從你的帳棚中抽出，從活人之地將你拔出。（細拉）義人要看見而懼怕，並要笑他，說：看哪，這就是那不以神為他力量的人，只倚仗他豐富的財物，在邪惡上堅立自己。

他們就追尋到約旦河，看見滿道上都是亞蘭人急跑時丟棄的衣服器具，使者就回來報告王。

誰知道人的靈是往上升，獸的魂是下入地呢？

「你出去與仇敵爭戰的時候，看見馬匹、車輛，並有比你多的人民，不要怕他們，因為領你出埃及地的耶和華－你神與你同在。你們將要上陣的時候，祭司要到百姓面前宣告說：『以色列人哪，你們當聽，你們今日將要與仇敵爭戰，不要膽怯，不要懼怕戰兢，也不要因他們驚恐；因為耶和華－你們的神與你們同去，要為你們與仇敵爭戰，拯救你們。』官長也要對百姓宣告說：『誰建造房屋，尚未奉獻，他可以回家去，恐怕他陣亡，別人去奉獻。誰種葡萄園，尚未用所結的果子，他可以回家去，恐怕他陣亡，別人去用。誰聘定了妻，尚未迎娶，他可以回家去，恐怕他陣亡，別人去娶。』官長又要對百姓宣告說：『誰懼怕膽怯，他可以回家去，恐怕他弟兄的心消化，和他一樣。』
