As no one has power over the wind to contain it, so no one has power over the time of their death. As no one is discharged in time of war, so wickedness will not release those who practice it.

No one can stop the wind from blowing. And no one has the power to decide when they will die. No one is let out of the army in times of war. And evil won’t let go of those who practice it.

No man has power to retain the spirit, or power over the day of death. There is no discharge from war, nor will wickedness deliver those who are given to it.

None of us can hold back our spirit from departing. None of us has the power to prevent the day of our death. There is no escaping that obligation, that dark battle. And in the face of death, wickedness will certainly not rescue the wicked.

No one has authority over the wind to restrain it, and there is no authority over the day of death; no one is discharged during battle, and wickedness will not allow those who practice it to escape.

人的年日已被限定，你掌管他的歲月，設定他無法逾越的界限。

你們說：「我們已經和死亡立約，與陰間結盟。災難席捲而來的時候，我們會安然無恙，因為我們以謊言為庇護所，以詭詐為藏身處。」

按著定命，人人都有一死，死後還有審判。

惡人因惡行而滅亡，義人到死仍有倚靠。

誰能長生不死？誰能救自己脫離死亡的權勢呢？（細拉）

不錯，祂的軟弱之軀曾被釘在十字架上，但如今祂靠上帝的大能活著。我們也跟祂一樣軟弱，但為了你們，我們要靠上帝的大能和祂一同活著。

惡人必下陰間，這是所有忘記上帝之人的結局。

他們倚靠金錢、誇耀財富，卻不能救贖自己的生命，也無法向上帝付生命的贖價。因為生命的贖價高昂，無人付得起，以致可以永遠活著，不進墳墓。

你把他們放在容易滑倒的地方，使他們落入毀滅中。他們頃刻間被毀滅，在恐怖中徹底滅亡。他們不過是人醒來後的一場夢。主啊，你一行動，他們必灰飛煙滅。我曾感到悲傷，心如刀絞。我當時愚昧無知，在你面前如同畜類。然而，我一直和你在一起，你牽著我的手引導我。你以諄諄教誨指引我，以後必接我到榮耀中。除你以外，在天上我還有誰？除你以外，在地上我別無愛慕。儘管我身心俱衰，上帝永遠是我心中的力量，永遠屬於我。那些遠離你的人必滅亡，你必滅絕不忠於你的人。對於我，到上帝面前是何等美好。我以主耶和華為我的避難所，並宣揚祂的一切作為。

種下去的是羞恥的，復活的是榮耀的；種下去的是軟弱的，復活的是剛強的；

你們和死亡所立的約必被廢棄，與陰間的結盟必不能長久。災難席捲而來的時候，你們必遭毀滅。

上帝若決定收回自己的靈和氣，

人都難免一死，就像覆水難收。然而，上帝不是要奪取人的性命，而是要設法使流亡的人重新回來。

上帝必永遠毀滅你，祂必抓住你，把你從家裡拉出來，從活人之地剷除。（細拉）義人看見必心生敬畏，他們必嘲笑說：「看啊，這就是不依靠上帝的人，他只倚仗自己的財富和以殘暴手段獲得的權勢。」

探子一路追到約旦河，沿路看見到處都是亞蘭軍倉皇逃走時丟棄的衣服和裝備，便回去稟告王。

誰知道人的氣息會向上升，獸的氣息會降到地下呢？」

「你們和敵人交戰時，面對比你們強大的軍隊及戰車戰馬，不要害怕，因為你們的上帝耶和華與你們同在，祂曾帶領你們離開埃及。你們出戰之前，祭司要上前鼓舞士氣，說，『以色列人啊，聽著！今天你們要和敵人交戰，不要膽怯，不要懼怕，也不要恐慌。因為你們的上帝耶和華要與你們同去，為你們爭戰，使你們得勝。』官長要對士兵說，『你們誰建了新房子還沒有舉行奉獻禮？他可以回家去，以免他陣亡了，別人為他的房子舉行奉獻禮。誰栽種了葡萄園還沒有享受過園中的果子？他可以回家去，以免他陣亡了，別人享受他園中的果子。誰訂了親還沒有迎娶？他可以回家去，以免他陣亡了，別人娶他的未婚妻。』官長也要告訴士兵，『有沒有膽怯、害怕的？他可以回家去，免得影響他人士氣。』
