拔示巴说：“请你把书念女子亚比煞赐给你哥哥亚多尼雅为妻。”所罗门王回答母亲说：“为何替亚多尼雅求书念女子亚比煞呢？可以为他求王国吧！他是我的兄长，不但为他，也为亚比亚他祭司和洗鲁雅的儿子约押求吧！”所罗门王指着耶和华起誓说：“亚多尼雅讲这话是自己送命，不然，愿上帝重重惩罚我。耶和华坚立我，使我坐在父亲大卫的王位上，照着他所应许的为我建立家室；现在我指着永生的耶和华起誓，亚多尼雅今日必被处死。”

王的震怒是死亡的使者，但智慧人能平息王怒。王脸上的光使人有生命，他的恩惠好像云带来的春雨。

因上帝所赐给他的大权，各方、各国、各族的人都在他面前恐惧战兢，因他要杀就杀，要人活就活，要升就升，要降就降。
