天下事可為長太息者、有時義人遭難、幾同惡人、惡人蒙休、有類義人、我則曰、此屬於虛。

世間更有一患事、即有善人遭惡人所當遭者、有惡人遇善人所當遇者、我則曰、此亦屬於虛、

There is something else meaningless that occurs on earth: the righteous who get what the wicked deserve, and the wicked who get what the righteous deserve. This too, I say, is meaningless.

Here’s something else on this earth that doesn’t have any meaning. Sometimes godly people get what sinful people should receive. And sinful people get what godly people should receive. Here’s what I’m telling you. That doesn’t have any meaning either.

There is a vanity that takes place on earth, that there are righteous people to whom it happens according to the deeds of the wicked, and there are wicked people to whom it happens according to the deeds of the righteous. I said that this also is vanity.

And this is not all that is meaningless in our world. In this life, good people are often treated as though they were wicked, and wicked people are often treated as though they were good. This is so meaningless!

There is a futility that is done on the earth: there are righteous people who get what the actions of the wicked deserve, and there are wicked people who get what the actions of the righteous deserve. I say that this too is futile.

There is futility which is done on the earth, that is, there are righteous people to whom it happens according to the deeds of the wicked. On the other hand, there are evil people to whom it happens according to the deeds of the righteous. I say that this too is futility.

There is a vanity which occurs on earth, that there are just men to whom it happens according to the work of the wicked; again, there are wicked men to whom it happens according to the work of the righteous. I said that this also is vanity.

There is a vanity which is done upon the earth, that there are righteous men unto whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; again, there are wicked men to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also is vanity.

有义人行义，反致灭亡；有恶人行恶，倒享长寿。这都是我在虚度之日中所见过的。

智慧人的眼目光明，愚昧人在黑暗里行。我却看明有一件事，这两等人都必遇见。

如今我们称狂傲的人为有福，并且行恶的人得建立；他们虽然试探神，却得脱离灾难。’”

恶人为何存活，享大寿数，势力强盛呢？

我见恶人和狂傲人享平安就心怀不平。

我将这一切事放在心上，详细考究，就知道义人和智慧人，并他们的作为都在神手中；或是爱，或是恨，都在他们的前面，人不能知道。凡临到众人的事都是一样：义人和恶人都遭遇一样的事；好人，洁净人和不洁净人，献祭的与不献祭的，也是一样。好人如何，罪人也如何；起誓的如何，怕起誓的也如何。在日光之下所行的一切事上有一件祸患，就是众人所遭遇的都是一样，并且世人的心充满了恶；活着的时候心里狂妄，后来就归死人那里去了。

看哪，这就是恶人；他们既是常享安逸，财宝便加增。我实在徒然洁净了我的心，徒然洗手表明无辜。因为，我终日遭灾难；每早晨受惩治。

有人孤单无二，无子无兄，竟劳碌不息，眼目也不以钱财为足。他说：“我劳劳碌碌，刻苦自己，不享福乐，到底是为谁呢？”这也是虚空，是极重的劳苦。

“恶人的灯何尝熄灭？患难何尝临到他们呢？神何尝发怒，向他们分散灾祸呢？他们何尝像风前的碎秸，如暴风刮去的糠秕呢？你们说：神为恶人的儿女积蓄罪孽；我说：不如本人受报，好使他亲自知道。愿他亲眼看见自己败亡，亲自饮全能者的忿怒。他的岁月既尽，他还顾他本家吗？神既审判那在高位的，谁能将知识教训他呢？有人至死身体强壮，尽得平靖安逸；他的奶桶充满，他的骨髓滋润。有人至死心中痛苦，终身未尝福乐的滋味；他们一样躺卧在尘土中，都被虫子遮盖。“我知道你们的意思，并诬害我的计谋。你们说：‘霸者的房屋在哪里？恶人住过的帐棚在哪里？’你们岂没有询问过路的人吗？不知道他们所引的证据吗？就是恶人在祸患的日子得存留，在发怒的日子得逃脱。“他所行的，有谁当面给他说明？他所做的，有谁报应他呢？然而他要被抬到茔地；并有人看守坟墓。他要以谷中的土块为甘甜；在他以先去的无数，在他以后去的更多。你们对答的话中既都错谬，怎么徒然安慰我呢？”

“他恶待不怀孕不生养的妇人，不善待寡妇。然而神用能力保全有势力的人；那性命难保的人仍然兴起。神使他们安稳，他们就有所倚靠；神的眼目也看顾他们的道路。他们被高举，不过片时就没有了；他们降为卑，被除灭，与众人一样，又如谷穗被割。若不是这样，谁能证实我是说谎的，将我的言语驳为虚空呢？”

我见日光之下有一件祸患，似乎出于掌权的错误，

耶和华啊，我与你争辩的时候，你显为义；但有一件，我还要与你理论：恶人的道路为何亨通呢？大行诡诈的为何得安逸呢？

我又见人为一切的劳碌和各样灵巧的工作就被邻舍嫉妒。这也是虚空，也是捕风。

善恶无分，都是一样；所以我说，完全人和恶人，他都灭绝。若忽然遭杀害之祸，他必戏笑无辜的人遇难。世界交在恶人手中；蒙蔽世界审判官的脸，若不是他，是谁呢？
