I have seen wicked people buried with honor. Yet they were the very ones who frequented the Temple and are now praised in the same city where they committed their crimes! This, too, is meaningless.

我见恶人埋葬，归入坟墓；又见行正直事的离开圣地，在城中被人忘记。这也是虚空。

我见恶人被埋葬；从前他们进出圣地，他们在城中的作为被人忘记。这也是虚空。

此后我看到恶人被埋葬，他们曾在圣地往来，但还是在出入过的城中被人遗忘。这也是虚空！

又見作惡者葬而歸墓、行正者離乎聖地、見忘於邑中、斯亦虛空、

強梁既沒、出於聖京、葬於塚墓、民遂忘其所行、我觀乎此、等於捕風、

我又見惡人安葬入墓、行正直者反離聖地、為邑人所忘、此亦屬於虛、

Then too, I saw the wicked buried— those who used to come and go from the holy place and receive praise in the city where they did this. This too is meaningless.

I also saw sinful people being buried. They used to come and go from the place of worship. And others praised them in the city where they worshiped. That doesn’t have any meaning either.

Then I saw the wicked buried. They used to go in and out of the holy place and were praised in the city where they had done such things. This also is vanity.

In such circumstances, I saw the wicked buried. They came and went from the holy place, and they were praised in the city where they did those things. This too is futile.

So then, I have seen the wicked buried, those who used to go in and out of the holy place, and they are soon forgotten in the city where they did such things. This too is futility.

Then I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of holiness, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done. This also is vanity.

So I saw the wicked buried, and they came to the grave; and they that had done right went away from the holy place, and were forgotten in the city: this also is vanity.

In such circumstances, I saw the wicked buried. They came and went from the holy place, and they were praised in the city where they did so. This too is futile.

And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done: this[ is] also vanity.

Not only that, but I have seen the wicked approaching and entering the temple, and as they left the holy temple, they boasted in the city that they had done so. This also is an enigma.

So I saw the wicked buried. Indeed they came also from holiness. They went and were forgotten in the city where they did this. This also is vanity.

The living at least know they will die, but the dead know nothing. They have no further reward, nor are they remembered.

We have happy memories of the godly, but the name of a wicked person rots away.

For the wise and the foolish both die. The wise will not be remembered any longer than the fool. In the days to come, both will be forgotten.

And my righteous ones will live by faith. But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.”

Then Jehu went into the palace and ate and drank. Afterward he said,“ Someone go and bury this cursed woman, for she is the daughter of a king.”But when they went out to bury her, they found only her skull, her feet, and her hands.

I was glad when they said to me,“ Let us go to the house of the Lord.”And now here we are, standing inside your gates, O Jerusalem.Jerusalem is a well built city; its seamless walls cannot be breached.All the tribes of Israel— the Lord’s people— make their pilgrimage here. They come to give thanks to the name of the Lord, as the law requires of Israel.Here stand the thrones where judgment is given, the thrones of the dynasty of David.

“ Finally, the poor man died and was carried by the angels to sit beside Abraham at the heavenly banquet. The rich man also died and was buried,

When they are carried to the grave, an honor guard keeps watch at their tomb.A great funeral procession goes to the cemetery. Many pay their respects as the body is laid to rest, and the earth gives sweet repose.

I am ignored as if I were dead, as if I were a broken pot.

O Lord, the hope of Israel, all who turn away from you will be disgraced. They will be buried in the dust of the earth, for they have abandoned the Lord, the fountain of living water.

We don’t remember what happened in the past, and in future generations, no one will remember what we are doing now.

The lying witnesses said,“ This man is always speaking against the holy Temple and against the law of Moses.

Are they driven before the wind like straw? Are they carried away by the storm like chaff? Not at all!
