Though I have searched repeatedly, I have not found what I was looking for. Only one out of a thousand men is virtuous, but not one woman!

就是我心裏屢次尋找着，而未曾找到的：在一千人中我找到了一個正直的男人，但女人呢，在一千人之中、我卻找不到一個正直的。

我心所求、猶未遇者、千男之中、我得其一、眾女之中、不得其一、

我心又有所尋、而未尋得、千男之中、猶可得一俊士、千女之中、未必得一哲婦、

while I was still searching but not finding— I found one upright man among a thousand, but not one upright woman among them all.

I searched and searched but found very little. I did find one honest man among a thousand. But I didn’t find one honest woman among a thousand.

Now King Solomon loved many foreign women. Besides Pharaoh’s daughter, he married women from Moab, Ammon, Edom, Sidon, and from among the Hittites.The Lord had clearly instructed the people of Israel,“ You must not marry them, because they will turn your hearts to their gods.” Yet Solomon insisted on loving them anyway.He had 700 wives of royal birth and 300 concubines. And in fact, they did turn his heart away from the Lord.

Help, O Lord, for the godly are fast disappearing! The faithful have vanished from the earth!

In the night I search for you; in the morning I earnestly seek you. For only when you come to judge the earth will people learn what is right.

I have always tried my best to let wisdom guide my thoughts and actions. I said to myself,“ I am determined to be wise.” But it didn’t work.Wisdom is always distant and difficult to find.
