我心又有所尋、而未尋得、千男之中、猶可得一俊士、千女之中、未必得一哲婦、

while I was still searching but not finding— I found one upright man among a thousand, but not one upright woman among them all.

I searched and searched but found very little. I did find one honest man among a thousand. But I didn’t find one honest woman among a thousand.

which my soul has sought repeatedly, but I have not found. One man among a thousand I found, but a woman among all these I have not found.

Though I have searched repeatedly, I have not found what I was looking for. Only one out of a thousand men is virtuous, but not one woman!

King Solomon fell in love with many foreign women( besides Pharaoh’s daughter), including Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites.They came from nations about which the LORD had warned the Israelites,“ You must not establish friendly relations with them! If you do, they will surely shift your allegiance to their gods.” But Solomon was irresistibly attracted to them.He had 700 royal wives and 300 concubines; his wives had a powerful influence over him.

Deliver, LORD! For the godly have disappeared; people of integrity have vanished.
