But Er, Judah’s firstborn, was evil in the sight of the Lord, so the Lord took his life.Then Judah said to Onan,“ Have relations with your brother’s wife and perform your duty as a brother in law to her, and raise up a child for your brother.”Now Onan knew that the child would not be his; so when he had relations with his brother’s wife, he wasted his seed on the ground so that he would not give a child to his brother.But what he did was displeasing in the sight of the Lord; so He took his life also.

Therefore, ridding yourselves of all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.

And He said to me,“ Do you see this, son of man? Is it a trivial thing for the house of Judah to commit the abominations which they have committed here, that they have filled the land with violence and provoked Me to anger repeatedly? Yet behold, they are putting the twig to their nose!
