并且没有见过天日，也毫无知觉；这胎，比那人倒享安息。

未睹日光、無有知覺、較為安泰也、

未睹日光、未知世事、較彼慳吝、又獲平康。

未見日光、毫無所知、較彼猶為安泰、

Though it never saw the sun or knew anything, it has more rest than does that man—

Moreover, it has not seen the sun or known anything, yet it finds rest rather than he.

and he would never have seen the sun or known of its existence. Yet he would have had more peace than in growing up to be an unhappy man.

Though a stillborn child does not see the sun and is not conscious, it has more rest than he.

It has not even seen the sun nor does it know it; yet it is better off than that man.

Though it has not seen the sun or known anything, this has more rest than that man,

moreover it hath not seen the sun nor known it; this hath rest rather than the other:

Why didn’t I die as I came out of my mother’s body?Why was I placed on her knees? Why did her breasts give me milk?If all of that hadn’t happened, I would be lying down in peace. I’d be asleep and at rest in the grave.

Human beings have only a few days to live. Their lives are full of trouble.

Your anger destroys us. Your burning anger terrifies us.You have put our sins right in front of you. You have placed our secret sins where you can see them clearly.You have been angry with us all of our days. We groan as we come to the end of our lives.
