God gives some people wealth, possessions and honor, so that they lack nothing their hearts desire, but God does not grant them the ability to enjoy them, and strangers enjoy them instead. This is meaningless, a grievous evil.

爾所未求者、我亦賜爾、即貨財尊榮、爾之畢生、列王之中、無可比儗。

容貌肥腴、所得逾於所望兮、

其家平康、無所畏懼、上帝不降以災、其牛方字、而胎不殰、產犢而保其生。嬰孩成群、子女舞蹈、播鼗鼓琴、蕭管悅耳、其在世也、為樂靡涯、其逝世也、患疾不久、其平日對上帝曰、我不悅爾道、勿親我、孰為全能之主、事之何為、求之何益。

乃自謂曰、我有多物、積為歷年之用、此心可安然飲食喜樂也、上帝曰、無知者乎、今夜將索爾魂、則所備者誰歸、

有人塊然獨處、無兄弟子女、不與友朋交接、然亦勞苦不已、雖得貨財、不以為足、不敢自用、不知遺誰、此屬於虛、更貽後患。

上帝告所羅門曰、我立汝為王、以臨民、乃爾心不求財貨、尊榮、遐齡、勝敵、惟求智慧聰明、能聽民之訟、

爾之土產、爾之操作、將為爾素所未識之民並吞殆盡、爾將為人虐取、為人挾制、歷久如是。

良可憫也、其入世若是、其逝世亦若是、捕風無益、徒勞而已。

異邦之人據我土、處我室兮。

我觀世人、勞而得功、同人媢嫉、此亦捕風捉影而已。

王請聽余、至上上帝、以國威尊榮、賜爾祖尼布甲尼撒、

爾中之賓旅、必舉於至高、爾降於至卑。

其居民安逸、土壤廣闊、物產俱備、此上帝付之於我也。

壽高年邁、財貨尊榮、子所羅門繼位。

彼與異邦人爭競、已竭其力、而彼不自覺、首髮斑白、而彼不自知、

於是興工作、建屋宇、作園囿、種葡萄、栽百果、

爾之上帝耶和華、導爾入腴壤、水泉溪河、深淵皆出自陵谷、其土產小麥、麰麥、葡萄、無花果、石榴、橄欖、油與蜜、在其地可食餅、無艱苦、無匱乏、取其石即鐵、鑿其山即銅。爾食果腹、必以所賜之腴壤、頌爾之上帝耶和華。

各人所為、無非捉影、諠譟徒勞兮、積累財貨、不知孰得兮。

耶和華使所羅門昌大於以色列族中、賜其家國尊榮、超軼以色列前王。
