God gives some people wealth, possessions and honor, so that they lack nothing their hearts desire, but God does not grant them the ability to enjoy them, and strangers enjoy them instead. This is meaningless, a grievous evil.

耶和華啊，求你用手救我脫離世人，脫離那只在今生有福分的世人！你以財寶充滿他們的肚腹，他們因有兒女就滿足，將其餘的財物留給他們的孩子。

你沒有求的，我也賜給你，就是富足、尊榮，使你在世一切的日子，列王中沒有一個能比你的。

他們的眼睛因體胖而凸出，他們的內心放任不羈。

他們的家宅平安無懼，上帝的杖不加在他們身上。他們的公牛傳種而不斷絕，母牛生牛犢而不掉胎。他們打發小男孩出去，多如羊羣，他們的孩子踴躍跳舞。他們隨着琴鼓歌唱，因簫聲歡喜。他們度日諸事亨通，在平安中下到陰間。他們對上帝說：『離開我們吧！我們不想知道你的道路。全能者是誰，我們何必事奉他呢？求告他有甚麼益處呢？』

然後要對我自己說：你這個人哪，你有許多財物積存，可供多年享用，只管安安逸逸吃喝快樂吧！』上帝卻對他說：『無知的人哪！今夜就要你的性命，你所預備的要歸誰呢？』

有人孤單無雙，無子無兄弟，竟勞碌不息，眼目也不以財富為滿足。他說：「我勞碌，自己卻不享福，到底是為了誰呢？」這也是虛空，是極沉重的擔子。

上帝對所羅門說：「你有這心意，不求資財、豐富、尊榮，也不求滅絕恨你之人的性命，又不求長壽；我既立你作我百姓的王，你只求智慧聰明，好審判我的百姓，

你地所產的和你勞力所得的，必被你所不認識的百姓吃盡。你天天只被欺負，受壓制，

這是一件令人憂傷的禍患。他來的時候怎樣，去的時候也必怎樣。他為風勞碌有甚麼益處呢？

我們的產業歸陌生人，我們的房屋歸外邦人。

我見人因彼此嫉妒而有一切的勞碌和各樣工作的成就，這也是虛空，也是捕風。

你，王啊，至高的上帝曾將國度、大權、榮耀、威嚴賜給你父尼布甲尼撒；

在你中間寄居的必上升高過你，高而又高；你必下降，低而又低。

你們去，必來到安居的百姓和兩邊遼闊的地。上帝已將那地方交在你們手中了；那裏不缺地上的任何東西。」

他死的時候年紀老邁，日子滿足，享盡榮華富貴。他的兒子所羅門接續他作王。

外邦人消耗他的力量，他卻不知道；頭髮斑白，他也不覺得。

我大興土木，為自己建造房屋，栽葡萄園，修造庭園和公園，在其中栽種各樣果樹，挖造水池，用以灌溉林中的幼樹。我買了僕婢，也有生在家中的僕婢；又有許多牛羣羊羣，勝過我以前所有在耶路撒冷的人。我為自己積蓄金銀，搜集各君王、各省份的財寶；又為自己得男女歌手和世人所喜愛的物，以及一個又一個的妃嬪。這樣，我就日漸昌盛，勝過我以前所有在耶路撒冷的人。我的智慧仍然存留。凡我眼所求的，我沒有克制它；我心所樂的，我沒有不享受。因我的心要為一切的勞碌快樂，這是我從一切勞碌中所得的報償。

「耶和華－你的上帝必領你進入美地，那地有河流，有泉源和深淵的水從谷中和山上流出那地有小麥、大麥、葡萄樹、無花果樹、石榴樹，那地也有橄欖油和蜂蜜。那地沒有缺乏，你在那裏有食物吃，一無所缺；那地的石頭是鐵，山中可以挖銅。你吃得飽足，要稱頌耶和華－你的上帝，因為他將那美地賜給你。」

世人行動實係幻影，他們忙亂，真是枉然，積蓄財寶，不知將來有誰收取。

耶和華使所羅門在以色列眾人眼前非常尊大，賜他君王的威嚴，勝過他以前任何一位以色列王。
