God gives some people wealth, possessions and honor, so that they lack nothing their hearts desire, but God does not grant them the ability to enjoy them, and strangers enjoy them instead. This is meaningless, a grievous evil.

你没有求的，我也赐给你，就是富足、尊荣，使你在世一切的日子，列王中没有一个能比你的。

他们的眼睛因体胖而凸出，他们的内心放任不羁。

他们的家宅平安无惧，神的杖不加在他们身上。他们的公牛传种而不断绝，母牛生牛犊而不掉胎。他们打发小男孩出去，多如羊群，他们的孩子踊跃跳舞。他们随着琴鼓歌唱，因箫声欢喜。他们度日诸事亨通，在平安中下到阴间。他们对神说：‘离开我们吧！我们不想知道你的道路。全能者是谁，我们何必事奉他呢？求告他有什么益处呢？’

然后要对我自己说：你这个人哪，你有许多财物积存，可供多年享用，只管安安逸逸吃喝快乐吧！’神却对他说：‘无知的人哪！今夜就要你的性命，你所预备的要归谁呢？’

有人孤单无双，无子无兄弟，竟劳碌不息，眼目也不以财富为满足。他说：“我劳碌，自己却不享福，到底是为了谁呢？”这也是虚空，是极沉重的担子。

神对所罗门说：“你有这心意，不求资财、丰富、尊荣，也不求灭绝恨你之人的性命，又不求长寿；我既立你作我百姓的王，你只求智慧聪明，好审判我的百姓，

你地所产的和你劳力所得的，必被你所不认识的百姓吃尽。你天天只被欺负，受压制，

这是一件令人忧伤的祸患。他来的时候怎样，去的时候也必怎样。他为风劳碌有什么益处呢？

我们的产业归陌生人，我们的房屋归外邦人。

我见人因彼此嫉妒而有一切的劳碌和各样工作的成就，这也是虚空，也是捕风。

你，王啊，至高的神曾将国度、大权、荣耀、威严赐给你父尼布甲尼撒；

在你中间寄居的必上升高过你，高而又高；你必下降，低而又低。

你们去，必来到安居的百姓和两边辽阔的地。神已将那地方交在你们手中了；那里不缺地上的任何东西。”

他死的时候年纪老迈，日子满足，享尽荣华富贵。他的儿子所罗门接续他作王。

外邦人消耗他的力量，他却不知道；头发斑白，他也不觉得。

我大兴土木，为自己建造房屋，栽葡萄园，修造庭园和公园，在其中栽种各样果树，挖造水池，用以灌溉林中的幼树。我买了仆婢，也有生在家中的仆婢；又有许多牛群羊群，胜过我以前所有在耶路撒冷的人。我为自己积蓄金银，搜集各君王、各省份的财宝；又为自己得男女歌手和世人所喜爱的物，以及一个又一个的妃嫔。这样，我就日渐昌盛，胜过我以前所有在耶路撒冷的人。我的智慧仍然存留。凡我眼所求的，我没有克制它；我心所乐的，我没有不享受。因我的心要为一切的劳碌快乐，这是我从一切劳碌中所得的报偿。

“耶和华—你的神必领你进入美地，那地有河流，有泉源和深渊的水从谷中和山上流出。那地有小麦、大麦、葡萄树、无花果树、石榴树，那地也有橄榄油和蜂蜜。那地没有缺乏，你在那里有食物吃，一无所缺；那地的石头是铁，山中可以挖铜。你吃得饱足，要称颂耶和华—你的神，因为他将那美地赐给你。”

世人行动实系幻影，他们忙乱，真是枉然，积蓄财宝，不知将来有谁收取。

耶和华使所罗门在以色列众人眼前非常尊大，赐他君王的威严，胜过他以前任何一位以色列王。
