God gives some people wealth, possessions and honor, so that they lack nothing their hearts desire, but God does not grant them the ability to enjoy them, and strangers enjoy them instead. This is meaningless, a grievous evil.

他们的眼睛因体胖而凸出；他们所得的，过于心里所想的。

他们的家宅平安无惧；神的杖也不加在他们身上。他们的公牛孳生而不断绝；母牛下犊而不掉胎。他们打发小孩子出去，多如羊群；他们的儿女踊跃跳舞。他们随着琴鼓歌唱，又因箫声欢喜。他们度日诸事亨通，转眼下入阴间。他们对神说：‘离开我们吧！我们不愿晓得你的道。全能者是谁，我们何必侍奉他呢？’求告他有什么益处呢？

然后要对我的灵魂说：灵魂哪，你有许多财物积存，可作多年的费用，只管安安逸逸地吃喝快乐吧！’神却对他说：‘无知的人哪，今夜必要你的灵魂；你所预备的要归谁呢？’

有人孤单无二，无子无兄，竟劳碌不息，眼目也不以钱财为足。他说：“我劳劳碌碌，刻苦自己，不享福乐，到底是为谁呢？”这也是虚空，是极重的劳苦。

神对所罗门说：“我已立你作我民的王。你既有这心意，并不求资财、丰富、尊荣，也不求灭绝那恨你之人的性命，又不求大寿数，只求智慧聪明好判断我的民；

你的土产和你劳碌得来的，必被你所不认识的国民吃尽。你时常被欺负，受压制，

他来的情形怎样，他去的情形也怎样。这也是一宗大祸患。他为风劳碌有什么益处呢？

我们的产业归与外邦人；我们的房屋归与外路人。

我又见人为一切的劳碌和各样灵巧的工作就被邻舍嫉妒。这也是虚空，也是捕风。

王啊，至高的神曾将国位、大权、荣耀、威严赐与你父尼布甲尼撒；

在你中间寄居的，必渐渐上升，比你高而又高；你必渐渐下降，低而又低。

你们到了那里，必看见安居无虑的民，地也宽阔。神已将那地交在你们手中；那地百物俱全，一无所缺。”

他年纪老迈，日子满足，享受丰富、尊荣，就死了。他儿子所罗门接续他作王。

外邦人吞吃他劳力得来的，他却不知道；头发斑白，他也不觉得。

我为自己动大工程，建造房屋，栽种葡萄园，修造园囿，在其中栽种各样果木树；挖造水池，用以浇灌嫩小的树木。我买了仆婢，也有生在家中的仆婢；又有许多牛群羊群，胜过以前在耶路撒冷众人所有的。我又为自己积蓄金银和君王的财宝，并各省的财宝；又得唱歌的男女和世人所喜爱的物，并许多的妃嫔。这样，我就日见昌盛，胜过以前在耶路撒冷的众人。我的智慧仍然存留。凡我眼所求的，我没有留下不给它的；我心所乐的，我没有禁止不享受的；因我的心为我一切所劳碌的快乐，这就是我从劳碌中所得的份。

因为耶和华你神领你进入美地，那地有河，有泉，有源，从山谷中流出水来。那地有小麦、大麦、葡萄树、无花果树、石榴树、橄榄树，和蜜。你在那地不缺食物，一无所缺。那地的石头是铁，山内可以挖铜。你吃得饱足，就要称颂耶和华你的神，因他将那美地赐给你了。”

世人行动实系幻影。他们忙乱，真是枉然；积蓄财宝，不知将来有谁收取。

耶和华使所罗门在以色列众人眼前甚为尊大，极其威严，胜过在他以前的以色列王。
