Seeing there be many things that increase vanity, what[ is] man the better?

辯論愈煩、則艱難叢集、果何益之有。

事多則虛浮必多、於人何益、

The more the words, the less the meaning, and how does that profit anyone?

The more words people use, the less meaning there is. And that doesn’t help anyone.

The more words, the more vanity, and what is the advantage to man?

The more words you speak, the less they mean. So what good are they?

For when there are many words, they increase futility. What is the advantage for mankind?

For there are many words which increase futility. What then is the advantage to a person?

Since there are many things that increase vanity, How is man the better?

Seeing there are many things that increase vanity, what is man the better?

For when there are many words, they increase futility. What is the advantage for man?

The more one argues with words, the less he accomplishes. How does that benefit him?

For there are many words that create vanity. What does that profit man?

For in the multitude of dreams and many words[ there are] also[ divers] vanities: but fear thou God.

And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit.For in much wisdom[ is] much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.

Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth lies and desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.

Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them[ as] a garment.

The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits.All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea[ is] not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.All things[ are] full of labour; man cannot utter[ it]: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.The thing that hath been, it[ is that] which shall be; and that which is done[ is] that which shall be done: and[ there is] no new[ thing] under the sun.

[ There is] no end of all the people,[ even] of all that have been before them: they also that come after shall not rejoice in him. Surely this also[ is] vanity and vexation of spirit.

There is one[ alone], and[ there is] not a second; yea, he hath neither child nor brother: yet[ is there] no end of all his labour; neither is his eye satisfied with riches; neither[ saith he], For whom do I labour, and bereave my soul of good? This[ is] also vanity, yea, it[ is] a sore travail.

So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of[ such as were] oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors[ there was] power; but they had no comforter.Wherefore I praised the dead which are already dead more than the living which are yet alive.Yea, better[ is he] than both they, which hath not yet been, who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour. This[ is] also vanity and vexation of spirit.

I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what[ was] that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life.I made me great works; I builded me houses; I planted me vineyards:I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all[ kind of] fruits:I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that bringeth forth trees:I got[ me] servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me:I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men,[ as] musical instruments, and that of all sorts.So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me.And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour.Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all[ was] vanity and vexation of spirit, and[ there was] no profit under the sun.

For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all[ is] vanity.
