『好辯的哪可同全能者挑剔是非呢？譴責上帝的儘管回答呀。』

已有的事、早已有了；將來的事也早已有了；並且被追逐的往事、上帝也設法討回。

人若願意同他辯論，千項也不能回答他一項啊。他心裏有智慧，並且能力強大；誰向上帝強硬、還得安全呢？

『婦人所生的人歲數短促，滿有煩擾。他長出如花草，又被割下；他飛去如影兒，並不停留。這樣的人你豈睜眼看他，又叫他上法庭同你對訊麼？巴不得污穢之中能有潔淨呢！一概不能啊！

我心裏說：『你們倒是神類，倒都是以利約恩的眾子呢！其實你們是會死的，像世人一樣；王子們哪，你們都必一概倒斃。』

人走來走去、簡直是影兒；悲哀歎息不過是虛幻；他積聚着財寶，不知誰來收取。

對亞當永恆主上帝則說：『你既聽了你妻子的話，喫那樹上的果子，就是我吩咐你說：「不可喫」的，那麼土地就必因你的緣故而受咒詛；儘你一生的日子你必勞苦，才能從土地得喫的；土地必給你長出荊棘和蒺藜來；你也必喫田間的菜蔬；你必汗流滿面、才得喫食，直到你歸了土，因為你是由土取出來的：你本是塵土，仍要歸於塵土。』

這樣，你必對我說：『他為甚麼還指摘人呢？誰反對過他的主意呢？』但是人哪，你到底是誰，你這跟上帝頂嘴的？被塑造的哪能對塑造他的說：「你為甚麼造我像這樣呢？」

你為甚麼和他爭論、說：「他總不回答人的話」呢？

看吧，像獅子從約但河邊的叢林上來，攻擊歷久不壞的田莊；一眨眼之間我就要使以東人都跑走、離開這地了；誰蒙揀選，我就派誰治理這地。因為誰能比得上我呢？誰能定期傳我對訊呢？有哪一個牧民者能在我面前站立得住呢？

論到世人、他的年日如草一樣；他的發旺正如野地的花。

必有的事、是曾經有的；必行的事、是曾經行過的：日光之下並無新事。哪裏有一件事人能指着說：『看哪，這是新的』？哪知在我們以前的世代早已有了。先前的世代無人懷念着；將來的世代後來的人也必不懷念。

永恆主上帝呼喚那人說：『你在哪裏？』
