And you will be guilty of committing a sin.But if you don’t make a promise, you won’t be guilty.Make sure you do what you promised to do. With your own mouth you made the promise to the Lord your God. No one forced you to do it.

I have made a promise to follow your laws, because they are right.

“ You might as well shut the temple doors! Then you would not light useless fires on my altar. I am not pleased with you,” says the Lord.“ I will not accept any of the offerings you bring.

You weren’t pleased with burnt offerings and sin offerings.

Then God said to Jacob,“ Go up to Bethel and live there. Build an altar there to honor me. That’s where I appeared to you when you were running away from your brother Esau.”

So the Lord will make himself known to the people of Egypt. At that time they will recognize that he is the Lord. They will worship him by bringing sacrifices and grain offerings to him. They will make promises to the Lord. And they will keep them.
