若何而來、亦若何而去、斯為大患、勞而捕風、有何益哉、

良可憫也、其入世若是、其逝世亦若是、捕風無益、徒勞而已。

終身度日於黑暗中、多煩惱、多病患、多病患或作多憂傷多愁苦、

This too is a grievous evil: As everyone comes, so they depart, and what do they gain, since they toil for the wind?

Here’s something else that is very evil. Everyone is born, and everyone dies. And what do they get for their work? Nothing. It’s like working for the wind.

This also is a grievous evil: just as he came, so shall he go, and what gain is there to him who toils for the wind?

And this, too, is a very serious problem. People leave this world no better off than when they came. All their hard work is for nothing— like working for the wind.

This too is a sickening tragedy: exactly as he comes, so he will go. What does the one gain who struggles for the wind?

This also is a sickening evil: exactly as a person is born, so will he die. What then is the advantage for him who labors for the wind?

And this also is a grievous evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit hath he that he laboreth for the wind?

What profit has a man from all his labor In which he toils under the sun?

“ They sow the wind, And reap the whirlwind. The stalk has no bud; It shall never produce meal. If it should produce, Aliens would swallow it up.

For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?

We have been with child, we have been in pain; We have, as it were, brought forth wind; We have not accomplished any deliverance in the earth, Nor have the inhabitants of the world fallen.

The priests did not say,‘ Where is the Lord?’ And those who handle the law did not know Me; The rulers also transgressed against Me; The prophets prophesied by Baal, And walked after things that do not profit.

And do not turn aside; for then you would go after empty things which cannot profit or deliver, for they are nothing.

There is a severe evil which I have seen under the sun: Riches kept for their owner to his hurt.

Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”

For what has man for all his labor, and for the striving of his heart with which he has toiled under the sun?For all his days are sorrowful, and his work burdensome; even in the night his heart takes no rest. This also is vanity.
