As goods increase, so do those who consume them. And what benefit are they to the owners except to feast their eyes on them?

As more and more goods are made, more and more people use them up. So how can those goods benefit their owners? All they can do is look at them with desire.

When goods increase, they increase who eat them, and what advantage has their owner but to see them with his eyes?

The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what good is wealth— except perhaps to watch it slip through your fingers!

When good things increase, the ones who consume them multiply; what, then, is the profit to the owner, except to gaze at them with his eyes?

When good things increase, those who consume them increase. So what is the advantage to their owners except to look at them?

When goods increase, They increase who eat them; So what profit have the owners Except to see them with their eyes?

眾民勞碌得來的，被火焚燒；列國辛勞而得的，終歸無有。這不都出於萬軍之耶和華嗎？

我在戰利品中，看見了一件美麗的示拿衣服、二千二百八十克銀子，和一條重五百七十克的金條；我因貪愛這些物件，就把它們拿去了；現在埋藏在我帳棚的地裡，銀子在底下。”約書亞就派人跑到亞干的帳棚裡，果然見到東西埋藏在那裡，銀子在底下。他們就把東西從帳棚中拿出來，帶到約書亞和以色列人那裡，擺在耶和華面前。約書亞和全體以色列人一起把謝拉的曾孫亞干和那銀子、那件衣服、那金條，以及亞干的兒女、牛、驢、羊、帳棚和他所有的一切，都帶上亞割谷去。約書亞說：“你為甚麼給我們招惹災禍呢？今天耶和華必使你遭受災禍。”於是全體以色列人用石頭把他打死。他們用石頭打死他們以後，就把一切用火燒了。

和亞伯蘭同行的羅得，也有羊群、牛群和帳棚。那地容不下他們住在一起；因為他們的財物很多，所以他們再也不能住在一起。牧養亞伯蘭牲畜的和牧養羅得牲畜的，起了紛爭；當時迦南人和比利洗人還住在那地。

亞伯蘭因這女人的緣故就被優待，得了許多牛羊、公驢、母驢、僕婢和駱駝。

在我桌上吃飯的，有一百五十個猶大人和官長，還有那些從我們四圍外族來到我們這裡的人；每天預備牛一頭、肥羊六隻，又為我預備一些飛禽；每十天供應大量各類的酒。雖然這樣，我仍然沒有索取省長的俸祿，因為這些人服役已經負擔沉重。

亞伯蘭有很多牲畜和金銀。

眼睛看見的，勝過心中想望的。這也是虛空，也是捕風。

求你使我的心傾向你的法度，不傾向不義之財。求你使我轉眼不看虛空的事；又使我在你的道中存活。

所羅門從以色列眾人中徵召作苦工的人，這些作苦工的人共有三萬，派他們輪班上黎巴嫩山去，每月一萬人；他們一個月在黎巴嫩山上，兩個月在家裡。管理這些作苦工的是亞多尼蘭。所羅門有七萬個搬運重物的工人，有八萬個在山上鑿石的石匠。除此以外，所羅門還有三千三百個監管工作的官長，管理作工的人民。

你的眼睛注視在錢財上，錢財卻不見了，因為錢財必長起翅膀，如鷹飛往天上。

年輕人哪！你在幼年時要快樂，在壯年的日子，要使你的心歡暢；順著你心所願的，眼所見的去行。不過，你要知道，為了這一切事，神必審問你。

所羅門每天的食物是細麵粉五千公升、粗麵粉一萬公升、肥牛十頭、草場的牛二十頭、羊一百隻，此外還有鹿、羚羊、麅子和肥禽。

使用不公正的方法發財的，就像一隻鷓鴣孵了不是自己所生的蛋；到了中年，那財富必離開他，最後他必成為一個愚昧人。
