As goods increase, so do those who consume them. And what benefit are they to the owners except to feast their eyes on them?

As more and more goods are made, more and more people use them up. So how can those goods benefit their owners? All they can do is look at them with desire.

When goods increase, they increase who eat them, and what advantage has their owner but to see them with his eyes?

The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what good is wealth— except perhaps to watch it slip through your fingers!

When good things increase, the ones who consume them multiply; what, then, is the profit to the owner, except to gaze at them with his eyes?

When good things increase, those who consume them increase. So what is the advantage to their owners except to look at them?

When goods increase, They increase who eat them; So what profit have the owners Except to see them with their eyes?

众民劳碌得来的，被火焚烧；列国辛劳而得的，终归无有。这不都出于万军之耶和华吗？

我在战利品中，看见了一件美丽的示拿衣服、二千二百八十克银子，和一条重五百七十克的金条；我因贪爱这些物件，就把它们拿去了；现在埋藏在我帐棚的地里，银子在底下。”约书亚就派人跑到亚干的帐棚里，果然见到东西埋藏在那里，银子在底下。他们就把东西从帐棚中拿出来，带到约书亚和以色列人那里，摆在耶和华面前。约书亚和全体以色列人一起把谢拉的曾孙亚干和那银子、那件衣服、那金条，以及亚干的儿女、牛、驴、羊、帐棚和他所有的一切，都带上亚割谷去。约书亚说：“你为什么给我们招惹灾祸呢？今天耶和华必使你遭受灾祸。”于是全体以色列人用石头把他打死。他们用石头打死他们以后，就把一切用火烧了。

和亚伯兰同行的罗得，也有羊群、牛群和帐棚。那地容不下他们住在一起；因为他们的财物很多，所以他们再也不能住在一起。牧养亚伯兰牲畜的和牧养罗得牲畜的，起了纷争；当时迦南人和比利洗人还住在那地。

亚伯兰因这女人的缘故就被优待，得了许多牛羊、公驴、母驴、仆婢和骆驼。

在我桌上吃饭的，有一百五十个犹大人和官长，还有那些从我们四围外族来到我们这里的人；每天预备牛一头、肥羊六只，又为我预备一些飞禽；每十天供应大量各类的酒。虽然这样，我仍然没有索取省长的俸禄，因为这些人服役已经负担沉重。

亚伯兰有很多牲畜和金银。

眼睛看见的，胜过心中想望的。这也是虚空，也是捕风。

求你使我的心倾向你的法度，不倾向不义之财。求你使我转眼不看虚空的事；又使我在你的道中存活。

所罗门从以色列众人中征召作苦工的人，这些作苦工的人共有三万，派他们轮班上黎巴嫩山去，每月一万人；他们一个月在黎巴嫩山上，两个月在家里。管理这些作苦工的是亚多尼兰。所罗门有七万个搬运重物的工人，有八万个在山上凿石的石匠。除此以外，所罗门还有三千三百个监管工作的官长，管理作工的人民。

你的眼睛注视在钱财上，钱财却不见了，因为钱财必长起翅膀，如鹰飞往天上。

年轻人哪！你在幼年时要快乐，在壮年的日子，要使你的心欢畅；顺着你心所愿的，眼所见的去行。不过，你要知道，为了这一切事，神必审问你。

所罗门每天的食物是细面粉五千公升、粗面粉一万公升、肥牛十头、草场的牛二十头、羊一百只，此外还有鹿、羚羊、狍子和肥禽。

使用不公正的方法发财的，就像一只鹧鸪孵了不是自己所生的蛋；到了中年，那财富必离开他，最后他必成为一个愚昧人。
