我見人因勞力、及諸巧工、為鄰所嫉、斯亦虛空、乃為捕風、

我觀世人、勞而得功、同人媢嫉、此亦捕風捉影而已。

我觀世人勞碌經營、皆緣彼此相妒、此亦屬於虛、皆如捕風、

And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

I also saw that a person works hard and accomplishes a lot. But they do it only because they want what another person has. That doesn’t have any meaning either. It’s like chasing the wind.

Then I saw that all toil and all skill in work come from a man’s envy of his neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.

Then I observed that most people are motivated to success because they envy their neighbors. But this, too, is meaningless— like chasing the wind.

I saw that all labor and all skillful work is due to one person’s jealousy of another. This too is futile and a pursuit of the wind.

I have seen that every labor and every skill which is done is the result of rivalry between a person and his neighbor. This too is futility and striving after wind.

Again, I saw that for all toil and every skillful work a man is envied by his neighbor. This also is vanity and grasping for the wind.

Then I saw all labor and every skilful work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.

I saw that all labor and all skillful work is due to a man’s jealousy of his friend. This too is futile and a pursuit of the wind.

一個人用智慧、知識和技能所得來的一切，卻要留給不勞而獲的人享用，這也是虛空，是極大的不幸！

其實話越多，越虛空，這對人又有什麼益處？

掃羅聽了非常憤怒，說：「她們將萬萬歸功給大衛，將千千歸功給我，只剩我的王位沒有給他了！」掃羅從此對大衛起了嫉妒之心。

上帝把智慧、知識和喜樂賜給祂喜悅的人，卻讓罪人忙於積攢財富，然後把他們的財富賜給祂喜悅的人。這也是虛空，也是捕風。

亞伯也把羊群中頭生的羊及其最肥美的部分獻給耶和華。耶和華悅納亞伯和他的祭物，卻不悅納該隱和他的祭物。該隱便非常惱火，面帶怒容。耶和華問該隱：「你為什麼惱火？為什麼面帶怒容？如果你做得對，難道不會蒙悅納嗎？如果你做得不對，罪就蹲在你的門口要控制你，但你必須制伏罪。」該隱對弟弟亞伯說：「我們去田間吧！」他們在田間的時候，該隱動手打亞伯，把他殺了。

擁護他的人不計其數，以後的世代卻對他不滿。這也是虛空，如同捕風。

滿足於眼前所有的，勝過心中貪想的。這也是虛空，如同捕風。

耶和華與大衛同在，因此他事事成功。掃羅看見大衛做事精明，就懼怕他。以色列人和猶大人都愛戴他，因為他帶領他們作戰。

以下是有關雅各一家的記載。十七歲的少年約瑟跟哥哥們，就是雅各的妾辟拉和悉帕生的兒子們一同放羊。他向父親報告哥哥們做的壞事。約瑟是以色列年老時生的，以色列特別寵愛他，為他做了一件彩衣。約瑟的哥哥們見父親偏愛他，就懷恨在心，對他惡言相向。約瑟做了一個夢，並告訴了哥哥們，他們更恨他了。約瑟對哥哥們說：「你們聽聽我做的夢——我們在田裡捆莊稼，我捆的莊稼站起來，你們捆的莊稼都圍著我捆的莊稼下拜。」他的哥哥們回答說：「難道你真想做我們的王統治我們嗎？」他們因約瑟的夢和他說的話而更恨他。後來，約瑟又做了一個夢，他又去對哥哥們說：「你們聽聽我做的另一個夢，我夢見太陽、月亮和十一顆星星都向我下拜。」約瑟把夢告訴了父親和哥哥們，他父親就責備他說：「你做的是什麼夢！難道你的父母弟兄都要來向你俯伏下拜嗎？」約瑟的哥哥們嫉恨他，他父親卻把這些話記在心裡。

就更加懼怕大衛，終生與大衛為敵。非利士人的將領常來進犯，大衛每次作戰總比掃羅的其他臣僕出色，因而倍受尊重。

暴怒固然殘酷，憤恨好比狂瀾，然而嫉妒更是無人能敵。

因為彼拉多知道他們把耶穌抓來是因為嫉妒。

聖經上說：「上帝所賜、住在我們心裡的聖靈深願我們完全屬於祂。」你們以為這是空談嗎？
