看，日子将要来到，那时人们会说：‘不能生育、没有怀过胎和没有乳养过婴儿的，是蒙福的！’

如果有人生了一百个孩子，也活了许多岁月，虽然他的年日长久，心里却不因福份而满足，甚至自己得不到安葬，我就说：“流产的胎儿倒比他好！”因为那胎儿在虚空中来，在黑暗中去，他的名字也被黑暗遮蔽；他连日光也没有见过，一无所知，倒比那人有安宁。

在那些日子里，孕妇和哺乳的女人有祸了！

我见过在日光之下所做的一切事，看哪，全是虚空，全是捕风！

于是我说：“但愿我像鸽子那样有翅膀！我就飞走，得以安居。看哪，我要远走高飞，在旷野中住宿！细拉我要快快地到我的避难所，避开肆虐的风，避开风暴。”主啊，求你使他们混乱，变乱他们的言语！因为我在城中看见残暴和争竞：它们昼夜在城墙上绕行，坏事和祸患也在城中；奸恶在城中，欺压和诡诈不离它的街市。

于是我恨恶生命，因为在日光之下所做的事，对我都是悲苦。是的，全是虚空，全是捕风！
