不过，比以上两种人更幸运的是那从未出生的人，他们从未见过日光之下各样的恶行。

并且我以为那未曾生的，就是未见过日光之下恶事的，比这两等人更强。

但那尚未出生，就是未曾见过日光之下所发生之恶事的，比这两种人更幸福。

我並且以為、那未曾生的、就是那未曾經驗過日光之下所發生的壞事的、比這兩種人還好。

但那還沒有出生的人，比這兩者更好，因他沒有見過在日光之下所行的惡事。

且以未生之人、未睹日下所作之惡者、較斯二者為尤愈也、○

又思未生於斯世者、未見斯人之穢行、較生而復死者、尤為幸甚。

較此二者、未生於世、未見日下所作之惡事者更為幸、○

Yet, better than both is he who has never existed, Who has not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.

yea, better than them both did I esteem him that hath not yet been, who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.

因为日子快到了，人们将说，‘不曾生育、不曾怀孕、不曾哺乳的女子有福了！’

人若有一百个儿子，并且长寿，但心中却从未得到满足，死后又不得安葬。唉！这样的人还不如流产的胎儿。这胎儿在虚空中来，在黑暗中去，名字隐没在黑暗中，没有见过天日，一无所知，然而这胎儿比那人更享安息。

那时，孕妇和哺育婴儿的母亲们可就遭殃了！

因为那夜没有关闭我母胎的门，以致让我看见患难。“为何我不出生时就夭折，出母胎时就断气？为何要把我抱在膝上，用乳汁哺育我？不然我早已安然躺卧、长眠安息，与世上的君王和谋臣作伴——他们建造的宫殿已荒废，与房屋堆满金银的王侯同眠。为何我没有像未见天日就流产的婴儿一样消逝？

他们归入坟墓时非常快乐，欣喜若狂。

你为何让我出母腹？我不如当时就死去，无人会看见我——好像我从未出生，一出母腹就被送进坟墓。

我观察一切日光之下所做的事，看啊，都是虚空，好像捕风。

啊，但愿我能像鸽子展翅飞去，得享安息。我要飞到远方，住在旷野。（细拉）我要赶快躲进避难所，避过暴雨狂风。主啊，我在城中看见暴力和争斗，求你使他们言语混乱。他们昼夜在城墙上出没，城内充满了邪恶和压迫，毁坏的势力到处肆虐，恐吓与欺诈遍布大街小巷。

真希望我在旷野有栖身之处，以便远离我的同胞，因为他们是一群不忠不贞之徒。耶和华说：“他们鼓舌如簧，射出谎言，遍地充满诡诈，毫无诚实；他们行恶不断，不认我是上帝。

所以，我憎恶生命，因为在日光之下所做的一切都令我愁烦。唉！这一切都是虚空，都是捕风。

因为他没有把我杀死在母腹中，没有使母腹成为我的坟墓，让我永远留在里面。为什么我要从母胎出来，经历患难和痛苦，在羞辱中度过一生呢？
