因为人和兽的际遇并无分别，两者都难逃一死，活着都靠一口气。人并不比兽强，一切都是虚空。

因为世人所遭遇的与牲畜所遭遇的，都是一样：这个怎样死，那个也怎样死，两者的气息都是一样，所以人并不胜于牲畜。一切都是虚空。

因为世人的命运和兽的命运都一样：这个会死，那个也一样会死，他们都有一样的气息，人不比兽优越。这全是虚空！

因為世人的命運和獸的命運都一樣：這個會死，那個也一樣會死，他們都有一樣的氣息，人不比獸優越。這全是虛空！

人所遇者、獸亦遇之、人與獸所遇惟一、此之死猶彼之死、同一氣之呼吸、人無所愈於獸、悉屬虛空、

世人禽獸、同一氣之呼吸、其必死無以異也、則人不遠於禽獸、而萬事悉歸諸虛矣。

人命獸命俱同、原文作人之所遇無異獸之所遇人與獸所遇惟一死亦彼此無異、皆恃呼吸之氣、如此、人無所勝於獸、皆屬於虛、

Surely the fate of human beings is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath; humans have no advantage over animals. Everything is meaningless.

Surely what happens to animals happens to people too. Death waits for people and animals alike. People die, just as animals do. All of them have the same breath. People don’t have any advantage over animals. Nothing has any meaning.

For what happens to the children of man and what happens to the beasts is the same; as one dies, so dies the other. They all have the same breath, and man has no advantage over the beasts, for all is vanity.

For people and animals share the same fate— both breathe and both must die. So people have no real advantage over the animals. How meaningless!

For the fate of the children of Adam and the fate of animals is the same. As one dies, so dies the other; they all have the same breath. People have no advantage over animals since everything is futile.

人在尊贵中而不醒悟，就如死亡的畜类一样。

智慧人和愚昧人一样，永远无人记念，因为日后都被忘记；可叹智慧人死亡，与愚昧人无异。

你使我的年日窄如手掌；我一生的年数，在你面前如同无有。各人最稳妥的时候，真是全然虚幻。细拉世人行动实系幻影。他们忙乱，真是枉然；积蓄财宝，不知将来有谁收取。

求你想念我的时候是何等的短少；你创造世人，要使他们归何等的虚空呢？谁能常活免死、救他的灵魂脱离阴间的权柄呢？细拉

但人死亡而消灭；他气绝，竟在何处呢？海中的水绝尽，江河消散干涸。人也是如此，躺下不再起来，等到天没有了，仍不得复醒，也不得从睡中唤醒。

你掩面，它们便惊惶；你收回它们的气，它们就死亡，归于尘土。

故此，我转想我在日光之下所劳碌的一切工作，心便绝望。因为有人用智慧、知识、灵巧所劳碌得来的，却要留给未曾劳碌的人为份。这也是虚空，也是大患。人在日光之下劳碌累心，在他一切的劳碌上得着什么呢？因为他日日忧虑，他的劳苦成为愁烦，连夜间心也不安。这也是虚空。

我们都是必死的，如同水泼在地上，不能收回。神并不夺取人的性命，乃设法使逃亡的人不致成为赶出、回不来的。

畜类人不晓得；愚顽人也不明白。恶人茂盛如草，一切作孽之人发旺的时候，正是他们要灭亡，直到永远。

智慧人的眼目光明，愚昧人在黑暗里行。我却看明有一件事，这两等人都必遇见。
