I amassed silver and gold for myself, and the treasure of kings and provinces. I acquired male and female singers, and a harem as well— the delights of a man’s heart.

I stored up silver and gold for myself. I gathered up the treasures of kings and their kingdoms. I got some male and female singers. I also got many women for myself. Women delight the hearts of men.

I also gathered for myself silver and gold and the treasure of kings and provinces. I got singers, both men and women, and many concubines, the delight of the sons of man.

I collected great sums of silver and gold, the treasure of many kings and provinces. I hired wonderful singers, both men and women, and had many beautiful concubines. I had everything a man could desire!

於是示巴女王把約四千公斤金子、大批香料和寶石送給王；以後奉來的香料再也沒有像示巴女王送給所羅門的那麼多。

我現在已經八十歲了，還能分別美醜嗎？你僕人還能嘗出吃喝的味道嗎？我還能細聽男女歌手的聲音嗎？你僕人為甚麼要負累我主我王呢？

他們到達了俄斐，從那裡取得黃金約有一萬四千公斤，運到所羅門王那裡。

所羅門每年收入的金子重兩萬三千公斤。

所羅門王用錘煉好的金子做了二百面大盾牌，每一面大盾牌用錘煉好的金子七公斤。又用錘煉好的金子做了三百面小盾牌，每一面小盾牌用錘煉好的金子約三公斤；王把這些盾牌都放在黎巴嫩林宮。王用象牙做了一個大寶座，包上純金。寶座有六級臺階，又用金腳凳和寶座相連，座位兩邊都有扶手，扶手旁邊各有一隻獅子站立。六級臺階上共有十二隻獅子站立；每級兩隻，一左一右；在列國中都沒有這樣做的。所羅門王的一切杯爵都是金的；黎巴嫩林宮裡的一切器皿都是精金做的；在所羅門的時代，銀子算不得甚麼。因為王的船隻和希蘭的僕人一同到他施去；往他施的船隻每三年回來一次，載著金銀、象牙、猿猴和孔雀回來。

你們閒逸地彈琴奏樂，又為自己製造樂器，像大衛一樣。

希蘭送給所羅門約有四千公斤金子。

所羅門的一切飲器都是金子做的；黎巴嫩林宮裡的一切器皿也都是精金做的，沒有用銀子做的；原來在所羅門王的時代，銀子算不得甚麼。

要吹角讚美他，要鼓瑟彈琴讚美他。要擊鼓跳舞讚美他，要彈奏絲弦的樂器和吹簫讚美他。要用聲音洪亮的鈸讚美他，要用聲音鏗鏘的鈸讚美他。

因此，各國、各族和說各種語言的人，一聽見角、笛、琵琶、弦琴、豎琴和各種樂器的聲音，就都俯伏，向尼布甲尼撒王所立的金像下拜。

所羅門的兒子羅波安在猶大作王。他登基的時候，是四十一歲；他在耶路撒冷，就是耶和華從以色列各支派中所揀選，在那裡立他名的城，作王十七年。他的母親名叫拿瑪，是亞捫人。猶大人行耶和華看為惡的事；他們所犯的罪，惹動他的妒忿比他們的列祖更厲害。

他們叫小孩子出去多如羊群，他們的年輕人四處跳躍；他們跟著琴鼓高歌，又因著簫的聲音歡樂。

大衛和軍隊的領袖，也給亞薩、希幔和耶杜頓的子孫分派了任務，叫他們用琴瑟響鈸說預言。他們任職的人數如下：

你們一聽見角、笛、琵琶、弦琴、豎琴、風笛和各種樂器的聲音，就要俯伏，向尼布甲尼撒王所立的金像下拜。

現在，如果你們想清楚，一聽見角、笛、琵琶、弦琴、豎琴、風笛和各種樂器的聲音，就俯伏向我所做的像下拜，那還可以。如果你們不下拜，就必立刻扔在烈火的窰中。哪裡有神能救你們脫離我的手呢？”

羅波安王做了銅盾牌代替那些金盾牌；交給看守宮門的衛兵隊長看管。

此外，還有他們的僕婢七千三百三十七人；又有男女歌唱者二百人。

這些人都歸他們的父親指揮，在耶和華的殿裡歌頌，用響鈸和琴瑟在神的殿事奉。亞薩、耶杜頓和希幔都是由王指揮的。

王用檀香木為耶和華的殿和王宮作了臺階，又為唱歌的人作了琴瑟；像這樣的東西，是在猶大地從來沒有見過的。
