那人将来是智是愚，有谁晓得呢？可是他竟要掌管一切我劳碌得来的，就是我在日光之下用智慧得来的。这又是虚空。

那人是智慧是愚昧，谁能知道？他竟要管理我劳碌所得的，就是我在日光之下用智慧所得的。这也是虚空。

那人是智慧是愚笨，谁知道呢？他却要掌管我劳苦所得的一切，就是我在日光之下用智慧得来的。这也是虚空！

那人是智慧是愚昧，誰能知道？他竟要管理我勞碌所得的，就是我在日光之下用智慧所得的。這也是虛空。

誰知道那人是智者還是愚人呢？然而，他卻要接管我在日光之下用智慧辛勤經營的產業。這也是虛空。

那人會有智慧或是愚昧，誰能知道呢？他竟要掌管我勞碌所得的一切，就是我在日光之下用智慧所勞碌得來的：這也是虛空。

那人是智慧是愚笨，誰知道呢？他卻要掌管我勞苦所得的一切，就是我在日光之下用智慧得來的。這也是虛空！

彼為智為愚、孰克知之、我於日下以智勞力操作者、彼必主之、斯亦虛空、

子孫智愚、難以逆料、惟我竭其心思、勞苦畢生、彼得而主之、豈不盡屬於虛哉。

其人或智或愚、尚未可知、我在日下、用智慧勞碌所得者、竟為彼所轄、此亦屬於虛、

And who knows whether that person will be wise or foolish? Yet they will have control over all the fruit of my toil into which I have poured my effort and skill under the sun. This too is meaningless.

And who knows whether that person will be wise or foolish? Either way, they’ll take over everything on earth I’ve worked so hard for. That doesn’t have any meaning either.

and who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will be master of all for which I toiled and used my wisdom under the sun. This also is vanity.

And who can tell whether my successors will be wise or foolish? Yet they will control everything I have gained by my skill and hard work under the sun. How meaningless!

And who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will take over all my work that I labored at skillfully under the sun. This too is futile.

And who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will have control over all the fruit of my labor for which I have labored by acting wisely under the sun. This too is futility.

And who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will rule over all my labor in which I toiled and in which I have shown myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity.

And who knoweth whether he will be a wise man or a fool? yet will he have rule over all my labor wherein I have labored, and wherein I have showed myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity.

And who knows whether he will be a wise man or a fool? Yet he will take over all my work that I labored at skillfully under the sun. This too is futile.

And who knoweth whether he shall be a wise[ man] or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labour wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have shewed myself wise under the sun. This[ is] also vanity.

至于从天上来的智慧，首先是纯洁的，其次是和平的，温柔的，谦逊的，满有恩慈和善果，没有偏袒，没有虚伪。

因此我看人最好是在自己所作的事上自得其乐，因为这也是他的分；谁能使他看见他自己死后的事呢？

却照着年轻人给他所出的主意，对他们说：“我父亲加重你们所负的重担，我要使你们负更重的重担；我父亲用鞭子责打你们，我要用蝎子鞭责打你们。”王不肯听从民众的请求，因为这个转变是出于耶和华，为要应验他藉示罗人亚希雅对尼八的儿子耶罗波安所说的话。以色列众人见王不肯听从他们的请求，就回答王说：“我们在大卫里面有什么分呢？我们在耶西的儿子里面也没有产业；以色列人哪，回你们自己的家去吧！大卫啊，照顾你自己的家吧！”于是以色列人都回自己的家去了。不过住在犹大各城的以色列人，罗波安仍然作他们的王。罗波安王差派掌管作苦工之人的亚多兰往以色列人那里去，以色列众人却用石头打死他。罗波安王急忙上车逃回耶路撒冷去了。这样，以色列人背叛了大卫家，直到今日。以色列众人听说耶罗波安回来了，就派人去请他到会众面前，立他作以色列的王；除了犹大支派以外，没有跟随大卫家的。

在日光之下，我又看见一样智慧，觉得很有意义：

各样美好的赏赐，各样完备的恩赐，都是从上面、从众光之父降下来的，他本身并没有改变，也没有转动的影子。

罗波安王第五年，埃及王示撒上来攻打耶路撒冷。他夺去了耶和华的宝物和王宫的宝物，并且把所有的东西都夺去了；又把所罗门所做的一切金盾牌都夺了去。罗波安王做了铜盾牌代替那些金盾牌；交给看守宫门的卫兵队长看管。王每次进耶和华殿的时候，卫兵就拿着这些盾牌，随后又把盾牌送回护卫室里。

于是埃及王示撒上来攻打耶路撒冷，夺取了耶和华殿和王宫里的宝物，把它们全部带走，又夺去了所罗门所做的金盾牌。罗波安王做了一些铜盾牌代替那些金盾牌，交给那些看守宫门的守卫长看管。

罗波安王很严厉地回答他们。罗波安王不接受老人的意见，却照着年轻人的主意对他们说：“我父亲使你们负重轭，我必使你们负更重的轭；我父亲用鞭子责打你们，我却要用蝎子鞭责打你们。”王不听从人民的要求，这事原是出于神，为要实现耶和华藉着示罗人亚希雅对尼八的儿子耶罗波安所说的话。以色列人见王不听他们的要求，就对王说：“我们和大卫有什么关系呢？我们和耶西的儿子并不相干。以色列人哪，各回各家去吧，大卫啊，现在只顾你自己的家吧。”于是全体以色列人都回自己的家去了。

主人就夸奖这不义的管家作事机警；因为在应付自己的世事上，今世之子比光明之子更精明。
