Then I considered all that my hands had done and the toil I had expended in doing it, and behold, all was vanity and a striving after wind, and there was nothing to be gained under the sun.

我觀我手所作諸工、及勞力之操作、乃知悉屬虛空、莫非捕風、於日下無所裨益、○

由後而觀、覺勞而得者、莫非捕風捉影、於事無益、

厥後我觀我手所經營一切、及我所勞碌而得者、乃知皆屬於虛、皆如捕風、在日下毫無所益、○

Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.

But then I looked over everything my hands had done. I saw what I had worked so hard to get. And nothing had any meaning. It was like chasing the wind. Nothing was gained on this earth.

But as I looked at everything I had worked so hard to accomplish, it was all so meaningless— like chasing the wind. There was nothing really worthwhile anywhere.

When I considered all that I had accomplished and what I had labored to achieve, I found everything to be futile and a pursuit of the wind. There was nothing to be gained under the sun.

So I considered all my activities which my hands had done and the labor which I had exerted, and behold, all was futility and striving after wind, and there was no benefit under the sun.

Then I looked on all the works that my hands had done And on the labor in which I had toiled; And indeed all was vanity and grasping for the wind. There was no profit under the sun.

Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labor that I had labored to do; and, behold, all was vanity and a striving after wind, and there was no profit under the sun.

When I considered all that I had accomplished and what I had labored to achieve, I found everything to be futile and a pursuit of the wind. There was nothing to be gained under the sun.

Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all[ was] vanity and vexation of spirit, and[ there was] no profit under the sun.

Yet when I reflected on everything I had accomplished and on all the effort that I had expended to accomplish it, I concluded:“ All these achievements and possessions are ultimately profitless– like chasing the wind! There is nothing gained from them on earth.”

Then I looked at all the works that my hands had worked, and at the labor that I had labored to do; and behold, all was vanity and a chasing after wind, and there was no profit under the sun.

I have seen everything that is done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind.

What does man gain by all the toil at which he toils under the sun?

For all that is in the world— the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life— is not from the Father but is from the world.And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

But godliness with contentment is great gain,

And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

Behold, is it not from the Lord of hosts that peoples labor merely for fire, and nations weary themselves for nothing?

So I hated life, because what is done under the sun was grievous to me, for all is vanity and a striving after wind.I hated all my toil in which I toil under the sun, seeing that I must leave it to the man who will come after me,and who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will be master of all for which I toiled and used my wisdom under the sun. This also is vanity.So I turned about and gave my heart up to despair over all the toil of my labors under the sun,because sometimes a person who has toiled with wisdom and knowledge and skill must leave everything to be enjoyed by someone who did not toil for it. This also is vanity and a great evil.What has a man from all the toil and striving of heart with which he toils beneath the sun?For all his days are full of sorrow, and his work is a vexation. Even in the night his heart does not rest. This also is vanity.

And Moses saw all the work, and behold, they had done it; as the Lord had commanded, so had they done it. Then Moses blessed them.
