我竊自維、試耽宴樂、試樂逸遊、明知歸於無有。

我心里说：“来吧，我以喜乐试试你，你好享福！”谁知，这也是虚空。

I said to myself,“ Come now, I will test you with pleasure to find out what is good.” But that also proved to be meaningless.

I said to myself,“ Come on. I’ll try out pleasure. I want to find out if it is good.” But it also proved to be meaningless.

I said in my heart,“ Come now, I will test you with pleasure; enjoy yourself.” But behold, this also was vanity.

I said to myself,“ Come on, let’s try pleasure. Let’s look for the‘ good things’ in life.” But I found that this, too, was meaningless.

I said to myself,“ Go ahead, I will test you with pleasure; enjoy what is good.” But it turned out to be futile.

I said to myself,“ Come now, I will test you with pleasure. So enjoy yourself.” And behold, it too was futility.

I said in my heart,“ Come now, I will test you with mirth; therefore enjoy pleasure”; but surely, this also was vanity.

I said in my heart, Come now, I will prove thee with mirth; therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also was vanity.

I said to myself,“ Go ahead, I will test you with pleasure; enjoy what is good.” But it turned out to be futile.

乃自謂曰、我有多物、積為歷年之用、此心可安然飲食喜樂也、

我又曰、上帝使人勤於操作、無少休息、莫若耽飲食、樂宴樂之為美。

竊思上帝鞫善惡、賞罰有其期。又思世人行事、上帝察之、欲人知異於禽獸者幾希。

亞蘭王曰、爾往哉、我將致書於以色列王、遂往攜銀一萬五千、金三千、衣十襲、

彼此互論曰、共相陶瓦爇之以火、於是有瓦以代石、更有石油、以代泥沙。又曰、共相建邑、經營層臺、高及霄漢、名藉以揚、庶免四方散處。

維爾小子、幼而嬉戲、其志愉快、隨心所欲、隨目所視、當思上帝必鞫爾、

爾處世、樂宴樂、縱淫佚、以快心志、猶牲牷肥腯、以待宰割、

有富人衣紫袍細布、日事華靡宴樂、

我儕素無知弗信、見惑於人、從嗜慾、樂佚樂、暴戾、媢嫉、為人所怨、而己亦尤人、

竊思愚者死、智者亦死、雖智何益、豈非虛哉。

其素自榮華靡、故使之疾苦痛哭、亦若是、彼自謂女王、非嫠婦、必不痛哭、故頃刻間、災害數至、即饑饉、痛哭、死亡、火爇、蓋鞫之之上帝、乃大能之主、

主耶和華使我耳聰而不違。

氓之蚩蚩、謂上帝為無有、惟惡是作兮、喪其本心、不孳孳而行仁兮、

求主恩澤、爾所命兮、余憶斯命而爾求兮、

以為吾身不遭憂患、子孫不至艱危兮、

我語汝、今此葡萄園、將何以處之、必撤藩衛、任其吞噬、毀垣墉、聽其蹂躪、

予享平康之時、自謂永不傾跌、耶和華施恩兮、國祚鞏固、有若山嶽、爾乃遐棄予兮、觳觫之不勝、

我儕臨格、淆其言語、使彼此不通。

反是以為吾自有火、烟燄環繞、若然則以此照爾出入、可也、不知我必降以災、使彼長戚戚。

我竊自思、我得大業、具智慧、耶路撒冷人、自古以來、未有若此者也。我專我心、窮察智愚、祇徒勞焉。

爾曰、或今日、或明日、將往某邑、淹留一載、貿易得利、

智者寧往哀戚之家、愚者喜詣宴樂之地。

富者當思將來之苦而號泣、
