「所有勞苦和背負重擔的人哪，到我這裡來吧！我將使你們得到安息。

有一個人孤單無伴，連兒子和兄弟也沒有；但他各樣的勞苦卻沒有窮盡，他的眼目也不因財富而滿足；他問：「我如此勞苦，也不讓自己過好日子，到底是為了誰呢？」這也是虛空，是極重的擔子！

他們將不再飢餓，也不再乾渴；太陽或任何炎熱也不會傷到他們；因為在寶座中的羔羊將牧養他們，領他們到生命水的泉源；神要從他們的眼中抹去一切淚水。」

我轉眼又看到在日光之下所行的一切欺壓。看哪，受欺壓者流淚，無人安慰他們！權勢在欺壓他們的人手中，卻無人安慰受欺壓者！所以我感嘆，那些早已死去的死人，勝過那些還活著的活人；但那還沒有出生的人，比這兩者更好，因他沒有見過在日光之下所行的惡事。我也看到，一切的勞苦和各樣工作的技能，都是出於人與鄰人之間的嫉妒。這也是虛空，也是捕風！

貪愛銀子的不會因銀子滿足，貪愛財富的也不會因利益滿足。這也是虛空！財物增加，吃用的人也增加，而主人除了眼看以外，還有什麼益處呢？

原來神把智慧、知識和喜樂賜給他所喜悅的人；至於罪人，神加給他們擔子，讓他們去收取、積聚，好給神所喜悅的人。這也是虛空，也是捕風！

飢渴慕義的人是蒙福的，因為他們將得飽足。

我們知道，所有被造之物都一同呻吟、同受陣痛，直到如今。不僅如此，連我們這些有聖靈為初熟果子的人，也在自己裡面呻吟嘆息，熱切等待得到兒子的名份，就是等待我們的身體得蒙救贖。

但當我回顧我手所做的一切事，以及我勞苦所做的工，看哪，全是虛空，全是捕風！在日光之下毫無益處。

那已有的事，既遙遠又極其深奧，誰能發現呢？我轉去用心了解、探察、尋求智慧和事理，為要明白邪惡是愚昧的、愚昧是狂妄的。我發現一種女人，比死亡還苦毒：她的心是圈套和網羅，她的手是鐐銬。蒙神喜悅的人必能逃離她；但罪人必被她纏住。

水蛭有兩個女兒，常說「給我！給我！」有三樣東西不飽足，連同不說「夠了」的共有四樣，就是：陰間、不孕的母胎、水源不足的土地、不說「夠了」的火。

我的心就像飽嘗了骨髓脂油，我的口要以歡樂的嘴唇發出讚美。
