After the Lord your God has driven them out before you, do not say to yourself,“ The Lord has brought me here to take possession of this land because of my righteousness.” No, it is on account of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord is going to drive them out before you.

“耶和华你的神将这些国民从你面前撵出以后，你心里不可说：‘耶和华将我领进来得这地是因我的义。’其实，耶和华将他们从你面前赶出去是因他们的恶。

“耶和华—你的上帝将他们从你面前赶出以后，你心里不可说：‘耶和华领我得这地是因我的义。’其实，耶和华将这些国家从你面前赶出去是因他们的恶。

“耶和华—你的神将他们从你面前赶出以后，你心里不可说：‘耶和华领我得这地是因我的义。’其实，耶和华将这些国家从你面前赶出去是因他们的恶。

“你们的上帝耶和华赶走他们以后，你们不要以为耶和华带领你们占领那片土地是因为你们公义，其实是因为那里的民族邪恶，耶和华才将他们从你们面前赶走。

『永恆主你的上帝把這些國的人從你面前攆出以後、你心裏不可說：「永恆主將我領進來、取得這地、是因我的美德」；其實乃是因這些國的人的惡、永恆主才把他們從你面前趕出去呢。

爾上帝耶和華既驅逐之、爾勿意謂因我有義、故耶和華導我入據斯土、實因斯族之惡、而驅逐之、

既驅之後、爾勿意謂我儕有義、故耶和華使得斯土、實因斯民行惡、故耶和華驅於爾前。

主爾之天主、既逐之於爾前、爾勿意謂主導我得斯地乃因我善、實因斯民之惡、主逐之於爾前、

The Lord your God will drive them out to make room for you. When he does, don’t say to yourself,“ The Lord has done it because I am godly. That’s why he brought me here to take over this land.” That isn’t true. The Lord is going to drive out those nations to make room for you because they are very evil.

“ Do not say in your heart, after the Lord your God has thrust them out before you,‘ It is because of my righteousness that the Lord has brought me in to possess this land,’ whereas it is because of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord is driving them out before you.

“ After the Lord your God has done this for you, don’t say in your hearts,‘ The Lord has given us this land because we are such good people!’ No, it is because of the wickedness of the other nations that he is pushing them out of your way.

When the LORD your God drives them out before you, do not say to yourself,‘ The LORD brought me in to take possession of this land because of my righteousness.’ Instead, the LORD will drive out these nations before you because of their wickedness.

“ Do not say in your heart when the Lord your God has driven them away from you,‘ Because of my righteousness the Lord has brought me in to take possession of this land.’ Rather, it is because of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord is dispossessing them before you.

“ Do not think in your heart, after the Lord your God has cast them out before you, saying,‘ Because of my righteousness the Lord has brought me in to possess this land’; but it is because of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord is driving them out from before you.

Speak not thou in thy heart, after that Jehovah thy God hath thrust them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness Jehovah hath brought me in to possess this land; whereas for the wickedness of these nations Jehovah doth drive them out from before thee.

When the Lord your God drives them out before you, do not say to yourself,‘ The Lord brought me in to take possession of this land because of my righteousness.’ Instead, the Lord will drive out these nations before you because of their wickedness.

Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee.

Do not think to yourself after the LORD your God has driven them out before you,“ Because of my own righteousness the LORD has brought me here to possess this land.” It is because of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord is driving them out ahead of you.

Don’t say in your heart, after Yahweh your God has thrust them out from before you,“ For my righteousness Yahweh has brought me in to possess this land;” because Yahweh drives them out before you because of the wickedness of these nations.

You may say to yourself,“ My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.”

When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there.Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft,or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you.You must be blameless before the Lord your God.The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the Lord your God has not permitted you to do so.

“‘ Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled.Even the land was defiled; so I punished it for its sin, and the land vomited out its inhabitants.But you must keep my decrees and my laws. The native- born and the foreigners residing among you must not do any of these detestable things,for all these things were done by the people who lived in the land before you, and the land became defiled.And if you defile the land, it will vomit you out as it vomited out the nations that were before you.“‘ Everyone who does any of these detestable things— such persons must be cut off from their people.Keep my requirements and do not follow any of the detestable customs that were practiced before you came and do not defile yourselves with them. I am the Lord your God.’”

The Lord did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples.But it was because the Lord loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

You must not worship the Lord your God in their way, because in worshiping their gods, they do all kinds of detestable things the Lord hates. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods.

It is not because of your righteousness or your integrity that you are going in to take possession of their land; but on account of the wickedness of these nations, the Lord your God will drive them out before you, to accomplish what he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me.

And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.

At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared,he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,

He has saved us and called us to a holy life— not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,

I want you to know that I am not doing this for your sake, declares the Sovereign Lord. Be ashamed and disgraced for your conduct, people of Israel!

In the fourth generation your descendants will come back here, for the sin of the Amorites has not yet reached its full measure.”

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions— it is by grace you have been saved.

For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?

“ Therefore say to the Israelites,‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: It is not for your sake, people of Israel, that I am going to do these things, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you have gone.

Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but tremble.
