I feared the anger and wrath of the Lord, for he was angry enough with you to destroy you. But again the Lord listened to me.

I was afraid of the Lord’ s great anger. He was so angry with you he wanted to destroy you. But the Lord listened to me again.

現在，你且由着我，我要向他們發烈怒，滅絕他們，但我要使你成為大國。」摩西就懇求耶和華－他的上帝，說：「耶和華啊，你為甚麼向你的百姓發烈怒呢？這百姓是你用大能大力的手從埃及地領出來的！

在他的祭司中有摩西和亞倫，在求告他名的人中有撒母耳。他們求告耶和華，他就應允他們。

耶和華對摩西說：「你所說的這件事，我也會去做，因為你在我眼前蒙了恩，並且我按你的名認識你。」

蝗蟲吃盡那地青草的時候，我說：「主耶和華啊，求你赦免；因為雅各弱小，他怎能站立得住呢？」耶和華對這事改變心意，耶和華說：「這災可以免了。」

那時，我有一個兄弟哈拿尼，同幾個人從猶大來。我問他們那些被擄歸回、剩下殘存的猶太人和耶路撒冷的情況。他們對我說：「那些被擄歸回剩下的餘民在猶大省那裏遭大難，受凌辱；耶路撒冷的城牆被拆毀，城門被火焚燒。」我聽見這話，就坐下哭泣，悲哀幾日，在天上的上帝面前禁食祈禱，說：「唉，耶和華－天上大而可畏的上帝，向愛你、守你誡命的人守約施慈愛的上帝啊，願你睜眼看，側耳聽你僕人今日晝夜在你面前，為你眾僕人以色列人的祈禱，承認我們以色列人向你所犯的罪；我與我父家都犯了罪。我們向你所行的非常敗壞，沒有遵守你吩咐你僕人摩西的誡命、律例、典章。

我就說：「主耶和華啊，求你止息；因為雅各弱小，他怎能站立得住呢？」耶和華對這事改變心意，主耶和華說：「這災也可免了。」

「我的朋友，我對你們說，那最多只能殺人身體而不能再做甚麼的，不要怕他們。我提醒你們該怕的是誰：該怕那殺了以後又有權柄把人扔在地獄裏的。是的，我告訴你們，正要怕他。

因此，他說要滅絕他們；若非他所揀選的摩西在他面前站在破裂之處，使他的憤怒轉消，恐怕他就滅絕他們了。

你們在何烈山惹耶和華發怒，耶和華對你們動怒，甚至要除滅你們。
