現在，你且由着我，我要向他們發烈怒，滅絕他們，但我要使你成為大國。」摩西就懇求耶和華－他的上帝，說：「耶和華啊，你為甚麼向你的百姓發烈怒呢？這百姓是你用大能大力的手從埃及地領出來的！為甚麼讓埃及人說：『他領他們出去，是要降災禍給他們，在山中把他們殺了，將他們從地上除滅』呢？求你回心轉意，不發你的烈怒，不降災禍給你的百姓。求你記念你的僕人亞伯拉罕、以撒、以色列。你曾向他們指着自己起誓說：『我必使你們的後裔像天上的星那樣多，並且我要將所應許的這全地賜給你們的後裔，讓他們永遠承受為業。』」

願他的後人斷絕，名字被塗去，不傳於下代！

義人的稱號帶來祝福；惡人的名字必然敗壞。

耶和華對我說：「雖有摩西和撒母耳站在我面前，我的心也不顧惜這百姓。你把他們從我眼前趕出，叫他們出去吧！

那人在裏面回答：『不要打擾我，門已經關了，孩子們也同我在床上了，我不能起來給你。』我告訴你們，雖不因他是朋友起來給他，也會因他不顧面子地直求，起來照他所需要的給他。我又告訴你們，祈求，就給你們；尋找，就找到；叩門，就給你們開門。因為凡祈求的，就得着；尋找的，就找到；叩門的，就給他開門。

得勝的必這樣穿白衣，我也不從生命冊上塗去他的名；我要在我父面前，和我父的眾使者面前，宣認他的名。

「你們這硬着頸項，心與耳未受割禮的人哪，時常抗拒聖靈！你們的祖宗怎樣，你們也怎樣。

現在，求你赦免他們的罪；不然，就把我從你所寫的冊上除名。」耶和華對摩西說：「誰得罪我，我就把他從我的冊上除去。

耶和華又對我說：「不要為這百姓求福。

耶路撒冷啊，我在你城牆上設立守望者，他們晝夜不停地呼喊。呼求耶和華的啊，你們不要歇息，也不要使他歇息，直等他建立耶路撒冷，使耶路撒冷在地上為人所讚美。

耶和華對摩西說：「這百姓藐視我要到幾時呢？我在他們中間行了這一切神蹟，他們還不信我要到幾時呢？我要用瘟疫擊殺他們，使他們不得承受那地。我要使你成為大國，比他們強大。」

耶穌對門徒講了一個比喻，為了要他們常常禱告，不可灰心。他說：「某城有一個官，不懼怕上帝，也不尊重人。那城裏有個寡婦，常到他那裏，說：『我有一個冤家，求你給我伸冤。』他很久不受理，後來心裏說：『我雖不懼怕上帝，也不尊重人，只因這寡婦煩擾我，我就給她伸冤吧，免得她常來糾纏我。』」主說：「你們聽這不義的官所說的話。上帝的選民晝夜呼籲他，他豈會延遲不給他們伸冤嗎？我告訴你們，他很快就要給他們伸冤。然而，人子來的時候，能在世上找到這樣的信德嗎？」
