Do not try to stop me. I am going to destroy them. I will wipe them out from the earth. Then I will make you into a great nation. Your people will be stronger than they were. There will be more of you than there were of them.”

願他斷子絕孫，他的姓氏傳不到下一代。

義人流芳於世，惡人名聲朽爛。

耶和華對我說：「就算摩西和撒母耳站在我面前求情，我也不會憐憫這些百姓。你把他們從我面前趕走吧！

那個人在屋裡應聲說，『請別打攪我，門已經鎖上了，我和孩子們也已經上床了，我不能起來給你拿餅。』「我告訴你們，那人雖不念朋友之情，但是倘若你不肯甘休，繼續請求，他最終會起來滿足你的願望。「我告訴你們，祈求，就會給你們；尋找，就會尋見；叩門，就會給你們開門。因為凡祈求的，就得到；尋找的，就尋見；叩門的，就給他開門。

得勝者必同樣穿上白袍，我絕不會從生命冊上抹去他的名字，我必在我父和眾天使面前承認他的名。

「你們這些頑固不化、耳不聽心不悔的人，經常抗拒聖靈，所作所為和你們的祖先如出一轍！

懇求你赦免他們的罪，不然請你從你的冊子上抹掉我的名字吧。」耶和華對摩西說：「誰得罪我，我就從我的冊子上抹掉誰的名字。

耶和華對我說：「你不要為這百姓禱告。

耶路撒冷啊，我已在你城牆上設立守望者。他們晝夜不停地禱告。呼求耶和華的人啊，你們不可歇息，要常常敦促祂，直到祂建立耶路撒冷，使耶路撒冷成為普世歌頌的城。

耶和華對摩西說：「這些人藐視我要到何時呢？我在他們中間行了這麼多神蹟，他們仍然不相信我。我要用瘟疫毀滅他們，不讓他們承受那片土地。但我要使你成為大國，比他們更強盛。」

耶穌講了一個比喻來教導門徒要常常禱告，不要灰心。祂說：「某城有一位既不敬畏上帝也不尊重人的審判官。那城裡有一位寡婦常常來哀求這位審判官，說，『求你為我伸冤，懲辦我的對頭。』審判官總是充耳不聞，但後來心裡想，『雖然我不怕上帝，也不在乎人，可是這寡婦一直來煩我，還是替她伸冤好了，免得她再來煩我！』」主接著說：「你們聽，這不義的審判官尚且這麼說，難道上帝聽到祂揀選的人晝夜呼求，不替他們伸冤嗎？難道祂會一直耽延不理嗎？我告訴你們，祂必很快為他們伸冤。不過當人子來的時候，在世上找得到有信心的人嗎？」
