Hear, Israel: You are now about to cross the Jordan to go in and dispossess nations greater and stronger than you, with large cities that have walls up to the sky.

「以色列啊，你要聽！你今日要過約旦河，進去佔領比你更強大的列國，那裏的城鎮又大，城牆又堅固，如天一樣高。

「以色列啊，你要聽！你今日要過約旦河，進去佔領比你更強大的列國，那裏的城鎮又大，城牆又堅固，如天一樣高。

「以色列人啊，你們要聽！今天你們要過約旦河，去趕出那些比你們強大的民族。他們住在城牆高聳入雲的大城裡，

『以色列啊、你要聽；你今日正要過約但河、進去趕出比你大比你強的列國人、去取得那些又大又有堡壘、高得頂天的城邑。

以色列歟、爾其聽之、爾今濟約但、據有其國、其民較爾強大、其邑宏廣、其垣參天、

以色列族、尚其聽之、今日爾渡約但、有較爾強大之民、其城垣廣大、高可參天、爾將得之。

以色列人當聽、爾今日將渡約但、欲往得國、居民較爾強大、城垣廣大鞏固、崇高接天、

Israel, listen to me. You are now about to go across the Jordan River. You will take over the land of the nations that live there. Those nations are greater and stronger than you are. Their large cities have walls that reach up to the sky.

“ Hear, O Israel: you are to cross over the Jordan today, to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than you, cities great and fortified up to heaven,

“ Listen, O Israel! Today you are about to cross the Jordan River to take over the land belonging to nations much greater and more powerful than you. They live in cities with walls that reach to the sky!

“ Listen, Israel: Today you are about to cross the Jordan to enter and drive out nations greater and stronger than you, with large cities fortified to the heavens.

“ Hear, Israel! You are crossing the Jordan today, to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than you, cities that are great and fortified to heaven,

“ Hear, O Israel: You are to cross over the Jordan today, and go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourself, cities great and fortified up to heaven,

Hear, O Israel: thou art to pass over the Jordan this day, to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fortified up to heaven,

“ Listen, Israel: Today you are about to cross the Jordan to go and drive out nations greater and stronger than you, with large cities fortified to the heavens.

Hear, O Israel: Thou[ art] to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven,

Listen, Israel: Today you are about to cross the Jordan so you can dispossess the nations there, people greater and stronger than you who live in large cities with extremely high fortifications.

Hear, Israel! You are to pass over the Jordan today, to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourself, cities great and fortified up to the sky,

Where can we go? Our brothers have made our hearts melt in fear. They say,‘ The people are stronger and taller than we are; the cities are large, with walls up to the sky. We even saw the Anakites there.’”

to drive out before you nations greater and stronger than you and to bring you into their land to give it to you for your inheritance, as it is today.

then the Lord will drive out all these nations before you, and you will dispossess nations larger and stronger than you.

You are about to cross the Jordan to enter and take possession of the land the Lord your God is giving you. When you have taken it over and are living there,

“ Go through the camp and tell the people,‘ Get your provisions ready. Three days from now you will cross the Jordan here to go in and take possession of the land the Lord your God is giving you for your own.’”

When the Lord your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess and drives out before you many nations— the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites, seven nations larger and stronger than you—

On the tenth day of the first month the people went up from the Jordan and camped at Gilgal on the eastern border of Jericho.

I commanded you at that time:“ The Lord your God has given you this land to take possession of it. But all your able- bodied men, armed for battle, must cross over ahead of the other Israelites.

the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah( that is, the Dead Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho.

Joshua said to the priests,“ Take up the ark of the covenant and pass on ahead of the people.” So they took it up and went ahead of them.

But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there.The Amalekites live in the Negev; the Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live near the sea and along the Jordan.”Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said,“ We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.”But the men who had gone up with him said,“ We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.”And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said,“ The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size.We saw the Nephilim there( the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”

So when the people broke camp to cross the Jordan, the priests carrying the ark of the covenant went ahead of them.

They went up through the Negev and came to Hebron, where Ahiman, Sheshai and Talmai, the descendants of Anak, lived.( Hebron had been built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)

When you have crossed the Jordan into the land the Lord your God is giving you, set up some large stones and coat them with plaster.

and said to them,“ Go over before the ark of the Lord your God into the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites,
