He gave you manna to eat in the wilderness, something your ancestors had never known, to humble and test you so that in the end it might go well with you.

He gave you manna to eat in the desert. Your people had never even known anything about manna before. The Lord took your pride away. He tested you. He did it so that things would go well with you in the end.

For our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory,

Blessed is a person who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to those who love him.

It is good that a man should hope and quietly wait for the salvation of Yahweh.It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.Let him sit alone and keep silence, because he has laid it on him.Let him put his mouth in the dust, if it is so that there may be hope.Let him give his cheek to him who strikes him. Let him be filled full of reproach.For the Lord will not cast off forever.For though he causes grief, yet he will have compassion according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.For he does not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men.

We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose.

that the proof of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes even though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ—
