He gave you manna to eat in the wilderness, something your ancestors had never known, to humble and test you so that in the end it might go well with you.

He gave you manna to eat in the desert. Your people had never even known anything about manna before. The Lord took your pride away. He tested you. He did it so that things would go well with you in the end.

It is good that a man should hope and quietly wait for the salvation of Jehovah.It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.Let him sit alone and keep silence, because he hath laid it upon him.Let him put his mouth in the dust, if so be there may be hope.Let him give his cheek to him that smiteth him; let him be filled full with reproach.For the Lord will not cast off for ever.For though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.For he doth not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men.

And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose.

that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold that perisheth though it is proved by fire, may be found unto praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ:
