Perhaps you will think to yourselves,‘ How can we ever conquer these nations that are so much more powerful than we are?’

You may say to yourselves,“ These nations are stronger than we are. How can we drive them out?”

You might say to yourselves,“ These nations are stronger than we are. How can we drive them out?”

“ If you say in your heart,‘ These nations are greater than I. How can I dispossess them?’

“ If you say to yourself,‘ These nations are greater than I; how can I drive them out?’

“ If you say in your heart,‘ These nations are greater than I; how can I dispossess them?’

“ If you should say in your heart,‘ These nations are greater than I; how can I dispossess them?’—

If thou shalt say in thy heart, These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?

“ If you say to yourself,‘ These nations are greater than I; how can I drive them out?’

If thou shalt say in thine heart, These nations[ are] more than I; how can I dispossess them?

If you think,“ These nations are more numerous than I– how can I dispossess them?”

If you shall say in your heart,“ These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?”

Take possession of the land and settle in it, because I have given it to you to occupy.

So they spread this bad report about the land among the Israelites:“ The land we traveled through and explored will devour anyone who goes to live there. All the people we saw were huge.

But Jesus knew their thoughts, so he brought a little child to his side.

He did all this so you would never say to yourself,‘ I have achieved this wealth with my own strength and energy.’

“ But you may wonder,‘ How will we know whether or not a prophecy is from the Lord?’

Do not be mean spirited and refuse someone a loan because the year for canceling debts is close at hand. If you refuse to make the loan and the needy person cries out to the Lord, you will be considered guilty of sin.

For you said to yourself,‘ I will ascend to heaven and set my throne above God’s stars. I will preside on the mountain of the gods far away in the north.

The descendants of Joseph responded,“ It’s true that the hill country is not large enough for us. But all the Canaanites in the lowlands have iron chariots, both those in Beth shan and its surrounding settlements and those in the valley of Jezreel. They are too strong for us.”Then Joshua said to the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh, the descendants of Joseph,“ Since you are so large and strong, you will be given more than one portion.The forests of the hill country will be yours as well. Clear as much of the land as you wish, and take possession of its farthest corners. And you will drive out the Canaanites from the valleys, too, even though they are strong and have iron chariots.”

Then you will think to yourself,‘ Who has given me all these descendants? For most of my children were killed, and the rest were carried away into exile. I was left here all alone. Where did all these people come from? Who bore these children? Who raised them for me?’”

“ Listen to this, you pleasure loving kingdom, living at ease and feeling secure. You say,‘ I am the only one, and there is no other. I will never be a widow or lose my children.’

You may ask yourself,“ Why is all this happening to me?” It is because of your many sins! That is why you have been stripped and raped by invading armies.
