“但你要谨慎，殷勤保守你的心灵，免得忘记你亲眼所看见的事，又免得在你一生的年日这些事离开你的心，总要把它们传给你的子子孙孙。你在何烈山站在耶和华—你上帝面前的那日，耶和华对我说：‘你为我召集百姓，我要叫他们听见我的话，使他们活在世上的日子，可以学习敬畏我，又可以教导他们的儿女。’

一句坏话也不可出口，只要随着需要说造就人的好话，让听见的人得益处。

我们不要向子孙隐瞒这些事，而要将耶和华的美德和他的能力，并他所行的奇事，述说给后代听。他在雅各中立法度，在以色列中设律法；他吩咐我们的祖宗要传给子孙，使将要生的后代子孙可以晓得。他们也要起来告诉他们的子孙，

日后，你的儿子问你说：‘这是什么意思？’你就说：‘耶和华用大能的手将我们从埃及为奴之家领出来。那时法老固执，不肯放我们走，耶和华就把埃及地所有头生的，无论是人是牲畜，都杀了。因此，我把一切头生的公的牲畜献给耶和华为祭，却将所有头生的儿子赎出来。

善人从他心里所存的善发出善来，恶人从他所存的恶发出恶来；因为心里所充满的，口里就说出来。”

只要心里奉主基督为圣，尊他为主。有人问你们心中盼望的理由，要随时准备答覆；

义人的嘴唇牧养多人；愚妄人因无知而死亡。

我要在列王面前宣讲你的法度，也不致羞愧。

智慧人的舌善发知识；愚昧人的口吐出愚昧。

你们的言谈要时常带着温和，好像用盐调味，让你们知道该怎样应对每一个人。

过路的也不说：“愿耶和华所赐的福归与你们！我们奉耶和华的名给你们祝福！”

在城门坐着的所有百姓和长老说：“我们都是证人。愿耶和华使进你家的这女子，像建立以色列家的拉结和利亚二人一样。又愿你在以法他得亨通，在伯利恒有名声。

义人的口发出智慧，他的舌头讲说公平。

看哪，波阿斯正从伯利恒来，对收割的人说：“愿耶和华与你们同在！”他们对他说：“愿耶和华赐福给你！”

愿耶和华照你所行的报偿你。你来投靠在耶和华—以色列上帝的翅膀下，愿你满得他的报偿。”
