你們的兒女問你們守這節期的意義時，你們就說，『這是獻給耶和華逾越節的祭，因為我們從前在埃及時，祂擊殺埃及人，卻越過以色列人所住的房子，救了我們各家。』」百姓聽了摩西這番話，都低頭下拜。

我揀選了他，是要他教導自己的子孫後代持守我的道、秉公行義。這樣，我必實現對他的應許。」

「要謹慎、小心，不可忘記親眼所見的事，要一生銘記在心，並且告訴子子孫孫。那天，你們在何烈山站在你們的上帝耶和華面前，耶和華對我說，『把民眾招聚起來，讓他們聽我的教誨，學習一生敬畏我，並傳授給自己的兒女。』

污言穢語一句都不可出口，要隨時隨地說造就人的好話，使聽的人得益處。

我們不要在子孫面前隱瞞事實，要把耶和華當受稱頌的作為、祂的權能和所行的奇事告訴下一代。因為祂為雅各制定法度，為以色列設立律法，又吩咐我們的祖先把這些律法傳給兒女，好讓他們也照樣教導自己的子孫後代，世代相傳。

將來你們的子孫問起這件事的意義，你們就回答，『耶和華曾經用大能的手把我們從受奴役之地——埃及領出來。當時法老硬著心不肯放我們走，所以耶和華就把埃及人的長子和頭生的牲畜全都殺了。因此，我們把所有頭生的公畜當作祭牲獻給耶和華，只把長子贖回來。』

善人心存良善，就從他裡面發出良善；惡人心存邪惡，就從他裡面發出邪惡。因為心裡充滿的，口裡自然會說出來。

要心裡尊基督為主。如果有人問起你們心中的盼望，你們要隨時準備答覆，

義人的口滋養眾人，愚人因無知而死亡。

善人心存良善，就從他裡面發出良善；惡人心存邪惡，就從他裡面發出邪惡。

我要在君王面前講論你的法度，我不以此為恥。

你行走，它們必引領你；你躺臥，它們必護衛你；你醒來，它們必與你交談。

耶和華啊，你知道我在大會中宣揚你的公義，沒有閉口不言。我述說你的信實和拯救之恩，沒有把你的公義隱而不宣，沒有在大會中避而不談你的慈愛和真理。

智者的嘴傳揚知識，愚人的心並非如此。

那時，敬畏耶和華的彼此交談，耶和華必留心傾聽，祂面前的紀念冊上記錄著敬畏祂和尊崇祂名的人。

智者的舌頭傳揚知識，愚人的嘴巴吐露愚昧。

談吐要溫和、風趣，知道該怎樣回答每個人。

沒有一個路過的人說：「願耶和華賜福給你們！我們奉耶和華的名祝福你們。」

聚集在城門口的眾人和長老都說：「我們願意作證。願耶和華使要進你家門的這女子，像建立以色列家的拉結和利亞一樣。願你在以法他家業興隆，在伯利恆聲名遠播。

義人口出智慧，訴說正義，

當時，波阿斯剛好從伯利恆來到田間，向那些收割的工人問安說：「願耶和華與你們同在。」他們回答說：「願耶和華賜福與你。」

願耶和華照你所行的獎賞你！你來投靠在以色列的上帝耶和華的翅膀下，願祂厚厚地賞賜你。」
