so that you, your children and their children after them may fear the Lord your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life.

你们既然称不偏待人、只按每个人的行为施行审判的那一位为父，就应当怀着敬畏的心，过你们寄居的日子，

所有敬畏耶和华、走在他道路上的人，都是蒙福的！

我儿啊，不要忘记我的法则，你的心要谨守我的诫命，因为它们会将长久的日子、生命的岁月与平安加给你。

藉着慈爱和信实，罪孽被赎清；因敬畏耶和华，人就远离恶事。

使者说：“不可向这少年下手，什么也不可对他做！现在我知道你是敬畏神的，因为你没有把你的儿子，就是你的独生子，留下不给我。”

我要指示你们该惧怕的是谁：你们当惧怕那杀了身体以后，又有权把人扔进地狱的那一位。是的，我告诉你们：当惧怕这一位。

敬畏耶和华是智慧的开端；所有遵行这些的都有美好的见识。对耶和华的赞美将存留到永远。

我们不会向子孙隐瞒，而要向后代讲述对耶和华的赞美，讲述他的大能和他所行的奇妙作为。他在雅各中立下法度，在以色列中设立律法，这律法是他吩咐我们的祖先教导子孙的，好让将要出生的后代子孙可以明白，并且起来向他们的子孙讲述；这样他们就把神当作他们的依靠，不会忘记神所行的，而会谨守他的诫命；以免像他们的祖先，成为顽梗悖逆、心里不坚定、灵里对神不忠实的一代。

因为我拣选了他，是要他吩咐他的子孙和后代家族谨守我耶和华的道路，施行公义和公正；好让我耶和华对亚伯拉罕所说的都应验在他身上。”
