so that you, your children and their children after them may fear the Lord your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life.

你們要順從耶和華你們的神，敬畏他，遵守他的誡命，聽從他的話，事奉他，緊靠他。

你們一切都聽見了，總而言之，應當敬畏神，謹守他的誡命，因為這是每一個人的本分。

你們既稱那不偏待人、按各人行為審判的主為父，就當存敬畏的心，過你們寄居的日子；

我兒，不可忘記我的訓誨，你的心要謹守我的誡命；因為它們必把長久的日子、生命的歲數和平安，加給你。

因著憐憫和信實，罪孽得贖；因為敬畏耶和華，人可以避開罪惡。

天使說：“不可在這孩子身上下手，一點也不可害他；現在我知道你是敬畏神的了，因為你沒有留下你的兒子、你的獨生子不給我。”

你們要走在耶和華你們的神吩咐你們走的路上，使你們可以活著，可以享福，並且使你在將要佔領為業的地上，可以長久居住。”

你要把這些話不斷地教訓你的兒女，無論你坐在家裡，或行在路上，或躺下，或起來的時候，都要談論。

我要指示你們當怕的是誰：當怕那殺身體以後，有權把人投入地獄裡的；我告訴你們，應當怕他。

敬畏耶和華是智慧的開端；凡是這樣行的都是明智的。耶和華該受讚美，直到永遠。

他對人說：‘敬畏主就是智慧，遠離邪惡就是聰明。’”

“以色列啊，現在耶和華你的神向你要的是甚麼呢？只要你敬畏耶和華你的神，行在他的一切道路上，愛他，一心一意事奉耶和華你的神，遵守耶和華的誡命和律例，就是我今日吩咐你的，為要叫你得福。

我們不把這些事向他們的子孫隱瞞，卻要把耶和華應得的讚美、他的能力，和他所行的奇事，都向後代的人述說。他在雅各設立法度，在以色列中制訂律法，就是他吩咐我們的列祖，去教訓他們的子孫的，好使後代的人，包括將要出生的兒女，都可以知道；他們也要起來，告訴他們的子孫，使他們信靠神，不忘記神的作為，謹守他的誡命；免得他們像他們的列祖，成了頑梗悖逆的一代，心不堅定的一代，他們的心對神不忠。

我揀選了他﹙“揀選”直譯是“認識”。﹚，是要他吩咐子孫，和他的家屬，遵守我耶和華的道，秉公行義，好叫我耶和華應許亞伯拉罕的話都可實現。”

免得你忘了你在何烈山，站在耶和華你們的神面前的那天。那時耶和華對我說：‘你要為我召集眾民，我要叫他們聽我的話，使他們在那地上生活的日子，可以學習敬畏我，又可以教訓自己的兒女。’

總要讓母鳥飛去，只可以取子；這樣你就可以得著好處，得享長壽。

智慧的右手有長壽，左手有財富和尊榮。
