“ You shall not put the Lord your God to the test, as you tested Him at Massah.

“你們不可試探耶和華你們的神，像你們在瑪撒試探他一樣。

『你們不可試探永恆主你們的上帝，像你們在瑪撒那樣試探他。

勿試爾上帝耶和華、如昔在瑪撒然、

勿試耶和華爾之上帝、如昔在馬撒然。

勿試主爾之天主、如昔爾試之在瑪撒然、

Do not put the Lord your God to the test as you did at Massah.

Don’t test the Lord your God as you did at Massah.

“ You shall not put the Lord your God to the test, as you tested him at Massah.

You must not test the Lord your God as you did when you complained at Massah.

Do not test the LORD your God as you tested him at Massah.

“ You shall not tempt the Lord your God as you tempted Him in Massah.

Ye shall not tempt Jehovah your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.

Do not test the Lord your God as you tested Him at Massah.

Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted[ him] in Massah.

You must not put the LORD your God to the test as you did at Massah.

You shall not tempt Yahweh your God, as you tempted him in Massah.

Then he named the place Massah and Meribah because of the quarrel of the sons of Israel, and because they tested the Lord, saying,“ Is the Lord among us, or not?”

And Jesus answered and said to him,“ It has been stated,‘ You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’ ”

Jesus said to him,“ On the other hand, it is written:‘ You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’ ”

Do not harden your hearts as at Meribah, As on the day of Massah in the wilderness,“ When your fathers put Me to the test, They tested Me, though they had seen My work.

Do not harden your hearts as when they provoked Me, As on the day of trial in the wilderness,Where your fathers put Me to the test, And saw My works for forty years.

So the people quarreled with Moses and said,“ Give us water so that we may drink!” And Moses said to them,“ Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test the Lord?”

Nor are we to put the Lord to the test, as some of them did, and were killed by the snakes.

Then they set out from Mount Hor by the way of the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom; and the people became impatient because of the journey.So the people spoke against God and Moses:“ Why have you brought us up from Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and we are disgusted with this miserable food.”

Then the people argued with Moses and spoke, saying,“ If only we had perished when our brothers perished before the Lord!Why then have you brought the Lord’s assembly into this wilderness, for us and our livestock to die here?

Those were called the waters of Meribah, because the sons of Israel argued with the Lord, and He proved Himself holy among them.
