I stood as an intermediary between you and the Lord, for you were afraid of the fire and did not want to approach the mountain. He spoke to me, and I passed his words on to you. This is what he said:

( I was standing between the LORD and you at that time to reveal to you the message of the LORD, because you were afraid of the fire and would not go up the mountain.) He said:

( I stood between Yahweh and you at that time, to show you Yahweh’s word; for you were afraid because of the fire, and didn’t go up onto the mountain) saying,

這樣說來，為甚麼要有律法呢？律法是為過犯的緣故而加上去的，等候那蒙應許的子孫來到才結束，是藉着天使經中保之手而設立的。

到了第三天早晨，山上有雷轟、閃電和密雲，並且角聲非常響亮，營中的百姓盡都戰抖。

眾百姓見雷轟、閃電、角聲、山上冒煙，百姓看見就都戰抖，遠遠站着。他們對摩西說：「請你向我們說話，我們必聽；不要讓上帝向我們說話，免得我們死亡。」摩西對百姓說：「不要害怕；因為上帝降臨是要考驗你們，要你們敬畏他，不致犯罪。」於是百姓遠遠站着，但摩西卻挨近上帝所在的幽暗中。

你們不是來到那可觸摸的山，那裏有火焰、密雲、黑暗、暴風、角聲，和說話的聲音；當時那些聽見這聲音的，都求不要再向他們說話，因為他們擔當不起所命令他們的話，說：「靠近這山的，即使是走獸，也要用石頭打死。」所見的景象極其可怕，以致摩西說：「我恐懼戰兢。」但是你們是來到錫安山，永生上帝的城，就是天上的耶路撒冷，那裏有千千萬萬的天使，有名字記錄在天上眾長子的盛會，有審判眾人的上帝和成為完全的義人的靈魂，並新約的中保耶穌，以及所灑的血；這血所說的信息比亞伯的血所說的更美。

只有摩西可以接近耶和華，其他的人卻不可接近；百姓也不可和他一同上來。」摩西下山，向百姓陳述耶和華一切的命令和典章。眾百姓齊聲說：「耶和華所吩咐的一切，我們都必遵行。」

因為基督並沒有進了人手所造的聖所－這不過是真聖所的影像－而是進到天上，如今為我們出現在上帝面前。。

他們的君王是他們自己的人，掌權的必出自他們。我要使他接近我，他也要親近我；不然，誰敢放膽親近我呢？這是耶和華說的。

求你近前去，聽耶和華－我們上帝所要說的一切話，將耶和華－我們上帝對你說的話都傳給我們，我們就聽從遵行。』

天使指給我看：約書亞大祭司站在耶和華的使者面前，撒但站在約書亞的右邊控告他。耶和華向撒但說：「撒但哪，耶和華責備你！揀選耶路撒冷的耶和華責備你！這不是從火中抽出來的一根柴嗎？」約書亞穿着污穢的衣服，站在那使者面前。使者吩咐那些侍立在他面前的說：「脫去他污穢的衣服。」又對約書亞說：「你看，我使你的罪孽離開你，要給你穿上華美的衣服。」我說：「要將潔淨的冠冕戴在他頭上。」他們就把潔淨的冠冕戴在他頭上，給他穿上華美的衣服，耶和華的使者在旁邊站立。

因此，他說要滅絕他們；若非他所揀選的摩西在他面前站在破裂之處，使他的憤怒轉消，恐怕他就滅絕他們了。

二人轉身離開那裏，往所多瑪去；但亞伯拉罕仍然站在耶和華面前。

他站在活人和死人之間，瘟疫就止住了。
