( I stood between Yahweh and you at that time, to show you Yahweh’s word; for you were afraid because of the fire, and didn’t go up onto the mountain) saying,

那麼，為什麼要有律法呢？律法是為了過犯的緣故被加上的，直到那蒙應許的後裔來臨；律法是藉著天使，通過中保的手所規定的。

你們並不是來到了摸得著的山、燃燒著的火、陰雲、幽暗、風暴、號角的響聲和說話的聲音面前——那些聽見這聲音的人，都懇求不要再向他們說話了，因為他們擔當不了那吩咐他們的話：「即使是野獸觸摸這山，也要用石頭砸死。」那景象實在可怕，連摩西也說：「我非常害怕戰兢。」相反，你們卻是來到了錫安山、永生神的城、天上的耶路撒冷面前；來到了千萬天使的盛會面前；來到了長子們的教會面前——他們的名字已經登記在天上；來到了神面前——他是萬人的審判者；來到了義人的靈魂面前——他們得以完全；來到了耶穌面前——他是新約的中保；來到了所灑的血面前——這血比亞伯的血所述說的更美好。

因為基督不是進入了人手所造的聖所——那不過是真聖所的象徵——而是進入了上天本身，如今替我們顯現在神的面前。

耶和華又讓我看見大祭司約書亞站在耶和華的使者面前，而撒旦站在約書亞右邊要控告約書亞。耶和華對撒旦說：「撒旦哪，耶和華斥責你！揀選耶路撒冷的耶和華斥責你！這人難道不是從火中得解救的一根燃燒的木柴嗎？」那時約書亞身穿骯髒的衣服，站在天使面前。天使應聲吩咐那些侍立在自己面前的，說：「從他身上脫去骯髒的衣服！」然後對約書亞說：「看，我已經從你身上除去了你的罪孽，我要給你穿上禮服！」我說：「讓他們把潔淨的頭巾戴在他頭上。」他們就把潔淨的頭巾戴在他頭上，又給他穿上衣服。那時耶和華的使者站在旁邊。

所以他說要除滅他們；要不是他所揀選的摩西在他面前站在破口處，使他的怒火轉消，他早就毀掉他們了！

其中兩人轉身離開那裡往所多瑪去，而亞伯拉罕仍然站在耶和華的面前。
