如我仍聽我上帝耶和華之言、則此大火、必燬我身、我將死亡、爾曷為使我死亡乎。

然我恐此大火燬我、何必冒死、如我再聞主我天主之聲、則必死亡、

But now, why should we die? This great fire will consume us, and we will die if we hear the voice of the Lord our God any longer.

But why should we die? This great fire will burn us up. We’ll die if we hear the voice of the Lord our God again.

這正如你在何烈山大會的那日向耶和華－你的上帝所求的一切，說：『求你不要再叫我聽見耶和華－我上帝的聲音，也不要再叫我看見這大火，免得我死亡。』

那用字刻在石頭上屬死的事奉尚且有榮光，以致以色列人因摩西臉上那逐漸褪色的榮光不能定睛看他的臉，那屬聖靈的事奉不是更有榮光嗎？若是那使人定罪的事奉有榮光，那使人稱義的事奉的榮光就越發大了。

因為我們的上帝是吞滅的火。

這樣，律法是與上帝的應許對立嗎？絕對不是！如果律法的頒佈能使人得生命，義就誠然出於律法了。但聖經把萬物都圈在罪裏，為要使因信耶穌基督而來的應許歸給信的人。

他說：「耶和華從西奈來，從西珥向他們顯現，從巴蘭山發出光輝；從萬萬聖者中來臨，從他右手向他們發出烈火的律法。

凡出於律法的行為都是受詛咒的，因為經上記着：「凡不持守律法書上所記的一切而去行的，都是受詛咒的。」
