Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the Lord your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the Lord your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.

耶和華啊，哦，我是你的僕人；我是你的僕人，是你使女的兒子。你已經解開我的捆索。

追求公義、尋求耶和華的人哪，當聽從我！你們要追想自己是從哪塊磐石鑿出，從哪個巖穴挖掘而來；要追想你們的祖宗亞伯拉罕和生你們的撒拉；因為我選召亞伯拉罕時，他只有一個人，但我賜福給他，使他增多。

他們在一切苦難當中，他也同受苦難，並且他面前的使者拯救他們。他以慈愛和憐憫救贖他們，在古時的日子時常抱他們，背他們。

所以，你們要記得：從前你們按肉體是外邦人，是「沒受割禮的」；這名字是那些憑人手在肉身上「受割禮的人」所取的。要記得那時候，你們與基督無關，與以色列選民團體隔絕，在所應許的約上是局外人，而且在世上沒有指望，沒有上帝。

上帝何曾為自己嘗試從別的國中領出一國的子民來，用考驗、神蹟、奇事、戰爭、大能的手、伸出來的膀臂和大可畏的事，像耶和華－你們的上帝在埃及，在你們眼前為你們所做的一切事呢？這是要顯給你看，使你知道，惟有耶和華他是上帝，除他以外，再沒有別的了。他從天上使你聽見他的聲音，為要教導你，又在地上使你看見他的烈火，並且聽見他從火中所說的話。因為他愛你的列祖，揀選他們的後裔，親自用大能領你出了埃及，

他為我們的緣故捨己，為了要贖我們脫離一切罪惡，又潔淨我們作他自己的子民，熱心為善。

叫我們既從仇敵手中被救出來，就可以終身在他面前，無所懼怕地用聖潔和公義事奉他。
